Another Book Section in Trouble

Posted by on Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 11:21 AM

I heard a rumor about this and sought to confirm it with a few sources (who in turn had only heard rumors,) but it looks like the rumor has become the news: The Washington Post could be ready to ax their book section, the Book World.

This is what The Post says in response to the rumors:

"We are absolutely committed to book reviews and coverage of literature, publishing and ideas in The Post. Our readership has a huge interest in these areas."

Which, to me, sounds like "We will run two reviews of books by local authors every other Friday."

Oh! No! But I love Book World! When they came for your left coast book reviewers/newspapers I did nothing, and now they've come for me. Tear.
