Don't Get Your War On

Posted by on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 5:06 PM

I am heartily impressed that David Rees, the Get Your War On guy, seems to have gone through with his promise to end the strip on Bush's last day in office. If only we could have somehow convinced Bil Keane (or whoever is doing Family Circus now) to do the same thing.

Here's an interview with Rees. The changing face of comedy in the new administration continues.

as I said elsewhere, David Rees's comic strip was a thing of national service. I'm glad he can finally bring it to a just end.

It is the only product of the Bush (mis)Administration that I will miss. Cheers to Rees.

A bittersweet moment for us all.

@ #1 , it's only terrible in the sense that the strip had a reason to be made at all, namely out of necessity to call "bullshit!". You might not like it, because it's the truth.

Cheers to Rees, and a great interview.

Let's end For Better or Worse reruns, too. Because of the memory of 9/11 or hope or whatever, just as long as it gets out of my newspaper.

Paul: Family Circus is usually improved by transposing the caption from the same day's Herman. Since they run next to each other in the Times, it's quite easy to do a nice, presentable cut and paste job. A bunch of the best ones are taped to the bar at the Blue Moon.
