Again, With Feeling

Posted by on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 7:13 PM

President Barack Obama took the advice of constitutional lawyers and retook the oath of office Wednesday that Chief Justice John Roberts flubbed the first time around.

Roberts re-administered the oath privately Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the White House Map Room. White House counsel Greg Craig said Obama took the oath from Roberts again out of an "abundance of caution."

Maybe—though I doubt it—this will shush those zealous right-wing conspiracy theorists with a blog and even those zealous right-wing conspiracy theorists with a television network:

In more oath-related news, Obama looked annoyed this afternoon when Biden made a joke at the expense of Chief Justice John Roberts for flubbing the oath the first time.

And what the fuck did they want? The Senate to invalidate the election results and give the WH to McCain. Jesus Humpy Christ.

Hmm. Private huh. Maybe a certain justice wanted to test a certain stereotype about a certain race with his lips. I'd hope though that if that happened, that Obama would have checked out a copy of the Clinton bible to use.

Now I suppose people will try to say that everything he did today as President before readministering the oath was illegal or some such crap.

Idealogues would be cute, if their supporters didn't actually believe them. Then they'd just be like the elderly; talking about "the good old days" and talking about their new neighbors in an unfounded, paranoid way. You'd roll your eyes, say, "Oh Pop..." and before you know it, dinner is over and you can leave. If my grandparents had a large following I probably would not have enjoyed the Sunday night baked ziti much at all.

Fuck the oath, he's the President because 60% of the country said he is on election day. So suck it, bitches!

What was with the dirty look he shot Biden? Obama's got to get a sense of humor. Jesus. It's Joe FUCKING Biden for godsake.

It looked like Obama's facial expression didn't change. So how can you judge that he was angry unless he was angry from the get go? Molehill = mountain.

His face stone cold and he even moved over his hand to chide him. So maybe it was his overall body language and not just a look. Either way, c'mon. It was just a little joke.

Actually, Obama didn't look happy at all from start to finish. His whole demeanor struck me as being just a tad grumpy. First time I've gotten that impression from his face and body language.

Wasn't Obama up until like 4:00 am?

Besides, it's not like it's a secret that John Roberts is an incompetent wingnut anyways.

Really I don't know what you're all talking about encouraging Obama to "lighten up." He's a classy politician who refuses to even slightly engage in the self-destructive politics we've been engaging for the last 8 years.

Did anyone notice how the liberal media didn't zoom in on the "Bible" he took the oath on to make sure it wasn't the Koran?

Even the normally reliable FOX News was in the tank on this one. They even arrogantly declined to cover the many lawsuits still pending about why he won't release his birth certificate.

And I thought they were good Americans.

Barack Hussein Obama is not my president, and the Jihad will begin

I'm totally cool with the wingnuts spending every waking moment fretting over the oath of office. That is without a doubt the best possible use I can think of for their time.

@19

I am merely doing what all good American should be doing: my duty in warning you all what will happen to this country now that Marxists are in power.

Liberalism is a gateway to socialism, which is a gateway to tyranny.

I hope and pray that an insurrection can be avoided, but I fear the die has been cast.

I plan to start a blog to keep you all informed on what Obama plans to do to us, but until it is up and running, I urge you all to listen to tall radio (Limbaugh, Hannity, and Michael Medved are especially good. Mark Levin, too), and read World Net Daily, NewsMax, and Conservative News Service (CNS) for the latest news.

Good luck and Godspeed.

Yes, I'm glad he followed my suggestion for a do-over. Joe flubbed the oath administering himself, too, forgoting to swear in the rest of the w.h. staff. Then made a joke, WTF? Not exactly on message unless the message is "we are incompetent, lazy jokesters."

Joe: the message is return to responsibility; put away childish things; competence; seriousness. GWB was the jokester. Change.

I say he names a special prosecutor to investigate whether or not Roberts flubbed it on purpose. That way, at least one Bush appointee would be held accountable for something.

Just wait, if Cheney and Bush ever have to answer for breaking their sworn oaths to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution, the wingnuts will play the "Obama got two words reversed when he took HIS oath of office!!" card.

While they were bitching about this, Obama was accomplishing more in his first day in office than bush did in his 1st hundred days if not 1st year.

Hell, I think by this point in his presidency, bush had already left for a vacation down in crawford.

CNN's Wolf Blitzer said the the Constitution states that at noon on the 20th of Jan. Obama was the President whether he took the oath or not. Petty, small FOX blabber mouths aside.

Amazing how the left and right are all freaking out about this. Both Coolidge and Aurthur had to take the oath over due to messing it up the first time around.
