The Final Meaning

A last word on Bush's presidency...
f760/1232487594-plane-crash-in-new-york-002.jpg

The US Airways pilot who crash-landed a passenger jet in New York after both its engines failed has revealed how he made the decision to ditch the plane in the city's Hudson river to avert a possibly "catastrophic" crash in Manhattan.
What does this recent event (Flight 1549) expose about Bush's presidency? That it is best understood, symbolized, expressed by precisely what happened on September, 11, 2001. The criminal hijacking of the planes and subsequent destruction of the concrete representations of America's economic and military strength corresponds with Bush's own hijacking of the presidency in 2000 and eventual crashing of the American economy and military. What we saw on September, 11, and what we did not know we were watching, was Bush's 8-year presidency compressed into a couple of hours.

Flight 1549 also tells us something about what happens when you give the important jobs to people who have become acknowledged leaders in their field after years of preparation and testing. As opposed to letting your cocker-spaniel-loyal college roommate fly the fucking plane.

Damn, beaten by 1, 2, and 3.

Charles, someone should have taught you that decent writing does not include asking a question of the audience. I can look at your posts and figure out they're by you, without seeing the byline, because you make the same hackneyed, juvenile errors in every single one.

You must not have scored high on the analogies section of the SATs.

The correct answer is:

George Bush piloted an out of control and damaged America to a safe landing...and, once the danger was gone, and the crises ended...the passengers exited...and then Obama got all the credit..

Um.

More like King George and Cheney were two birds who smashed into the airship of state and Pilot Obama saved us all.

Thank god they're gone.

Time to rebuild and renew.

The seemingly-endless television coverage of flight 1549 might tell us something more about after-effects of 8 years of GWB: plane falls in harbor, no one hurt, but let's spend the next week or so rehashing the thing. Just because it happened in NYC? Zzzzzzz. Like having to rerun "9-11" footage every year.

That's one thing I'm looking forward to ... no more endless 9-11 coverage and fear-based stories ...
