I'm a Drug War President

Posted by on Mon, Jan 19, 2009 at 2:22 PM

Under Bush's watch, more people were arrested for pot than any other president—872,000 last year and roughly six million over his term. And today, in a parting shot, he pardoned two border agents convicted of shooting an unarmed pot smuggler:

President Bush on Monday commuted the sentences of two former border patrol agents who had been sentenced to more than a decade in prison for shooting and seriously wounding a Mexican drug dealer in Texas in 2005. [...]

“These agents shot someone whom they knew to be unarmed and running away,” said the prosecutor, United States Attorney Johnny Sutton. “They destroyed evidence, covered up a crime scene and then filed false reports about what happened. It is shocking that there are people who believe it is O.K. for agents to shoot an unarmed suspect who is running away.”

It's hard to imagine it getting any worse, but that's what people said about Clinton.

Paticularly gross coming right after the shooting in Oakland which I doubt Bush even heard about.

He didn't pardon them, he commuted their sentences. They still get a felony conviction, fines, and supervised release. I'm not saying that's just, but it is not a pardon.

They shot the border-jumping drug dealer in his ass. Doing their jobs should be a crime?

C'mon. This guy was smuggling nearly $1 mil in pot into the US and these guys shot him in the butt for his trouble. I'd also heard that Devaila (the dealer) was granted immunity from prosecution if he would testify against the agents. Part of the deal was that he not smuggle drugs into America again. When he came into the US to testify, he was once again caught smuggling drugs with him. Who's the bad guy here?

Hey here's an idea. Legalize all plants. Problem solved. If pot was legal like it should be, we wouldn't have fucking mexicans smuggling in their shitty dirt and calling it weed. Furthermore, the government shouldn't be shooting anybody for bringing plants across an imaginary line. Mexican or not.

It doesn't make any sense that pot is illegal. It's a schedule 1 narcotic, right next to heroin! Cocaine is actually a schedule 2 narcotic and it is way more toxic (and probably more addictive) than marijuana. And I believe the only time cocaine is used medically is for specific surgeries that involve a lot of small capillaries.... whereas so many people would benefit from marijuana being legal.

would people get angry about a terrorist that was smuggling guns or bombs into us territory, got scared and while running away, got shot in the ass?

those border patrol agents would be "heroes"

10 years for doing their job is fucked up shit.

10 years for shooting an unarmed fleeing suspect and them COVERING UP THE SHOOTING is less punishment than I'd have laid down on them. Shooting the guy; bad but explainable. Picking up shell casings and trying to make it seem like it never happened? Gross police misconduct. We don't want cops out there shooting people and keeping it a secret.

Davey is an uniformed or just hates law enforcement people in general.

The truth is that Attorney Johnny Sutton or as he has been renamed to "Johnny Satan" because has repeated lied about the event.

The facts are:

1) They fought with the illegal alien drug smuggler before the event and one of the border agents was knocked down.
2) The border agents stated they heard a gun shot hence returned fire. Attorney Satan took the known drug smuggler's word over the officers.
3) Attorney Satan did not allow the jurors know that he was a know drug smuggler before or during the trial.
4) Their supervisors knew about the incident and no one knew anybody was shot... THERE WAS NEVER A COVER UP.
5) The border agents refused to take a plea bargain because they knew they were innocent.
6) BUSH IS AN A$$HOLE....

Read up on this and you will be shocked...
