Bittman's Lunch

Stranger cub reporter Tim Keck, on the scene, says Mark Bittman, New York Times food writer and all-star human being, is having lunch at Odd Fellows right now. Mr. Bittman's reading tonight has been moved to Kane Hall, and it's free; details here.

Dan Savage says, "Omigod, I LOVE his books."

(When Mr. Keck called, I thought at first he said, "I'm at Odd Fellows, and Mark Sidran here is having lunch." Mark Bittman is so, so, SO much better.)

Great, but WHAT WAS HE HAVING?

I hope it wasn't the pork shank, because it's terribly under-seasoned. On second thought, if Bittman gets that, he might actually complain to the chef and they might add a little salt next time.

How to Cook Everything is my kitchen Bible. My boyfriend and I each have a copy and we treat it like a person: "You're doing it like that? How does Bittman say to do it?" I've been giving it to every newlywed couple I know for years now.
