This is the gum in question. And it IS a journey! Just not a lemon-flavored one:

Meiji Xylish Hyper Cool Gum Flap Top Bottle
Product type: Japanese snack treat
Xylish is one of the most famous and popular brands of gum in Japan. This version is 'Hypercool' a strong pepperminty flavor, similar to black black (it contains caffeine too!) and comes in this slick pop-top container. It's sugarless too, so you don't have to worry about ruining your teeth while you chew. Try this refreshing and uplifting 'charged gum' from Japan, by the Meiji snack company for an energizing minty experience.

It also comes with little squares of paper in a special compartment for tidy throwing-away.

[Re: the categorization of these posts: Gum should probably not be considered Chow, Mr. Frizzelle. Then again, Slog doesn't have a Gum category.]

"Black black" is a flavor? Does Charles know about this?

Speaking of gum journeys, there are at least a dozen companies that make "breast enhancement gum." The world is a crazy place!

I think it would make a good Slog post if you could have someone review this stuff. Maybe Charles?

Black Black is a Korean caffeine gum. It's everywhere in Korea/Japan and I know they sell it at Uwajimaya. Great example of engrish.

I can't believe the Slog doesn't have a "sticky things" category.

My dentist at the UW clinic just told me all about xylitol and even gave me a sample of Biotene gum. If it wasn't for its adverse effects on dogs*, and the fact that I don't bake, I might even switch to it for my junk food addiction.

* Once, when he was young, our dog Sammamish ate a bunch of chocolate cookies when we were out. We're more careful now.

I appreciate the inclusion of little bits of paper to aid proper disposal.

I would suggest a Dumb category but it would quickly be overused and applied to the majority of posts and comments...

Black Black reminds me of Blackjack, Beemans, Teaberry, and all those other funky gums of yore.

But is it high technical gum? That's the best.

@16: Panda Licorice (box, not bar). Real enough to induce cardiac arrhythmia if you overindulge.
