Grand Plans for "Writing a Book"

Posted by Dominic Holden on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 10:51 AM

Bush on Fox News yesterday discussing his literary ambitions:

You know, I'm not quite exactly sure what it's going to be, but I'm toying with the idea of maybe describing the toughest decisions I had to make as President, and the context in which I made them. [...]

Well, I'll say two years and it will be four. I don't know. I mean, yes, I'd like to get it done. I am a Type A personality that—you know, I require things to do, and I bet once I get going on this book, I'll be able to get 'er done.

Those sentences are almost unreadable. I'd pay anything to see the first draft of this "book" before an editor takes a machete to it. That is, of course, if Bush actually authors of word of it in the first place.

For consistency's sake, they should have Cheney ghost-write it from an undisclosed location and then have George sign his name to it.

I'm hoping for a pop-up book!

We don't want his book about his decisions. We want his TESTIMONY about his decisions under oath and on trial for treason.

I'm reminded of his farewell press conference this morning where he, a former member of the Air National Guard, kept talking about "helicopter drivers", as if the word "pilot" kept eluding him.

Friendly note of blogger advice: ALWAYS triple-check posts that make fun of other people's English skilz.

I can see Bush as a manga writer, but they'll have to bring in an artist to redraw his crayon scribblings of happy stick figures fighting evil in Iraqiranistan.

I'd bet real money that Bush isn't capable of writing a single paragraph in proper English without assistance.

Bush is Type A?

Sure, when he's not killing time at the ranch, racking up more days on vacation than any other president.

He's a regular workaholic.

The book will sell, big time.

He should first try to write a book about owning a baseball team to see if can actually string sentences together.

At the very least he needs to take some 100 levels English Comp classes and try to get his GPA above 2.0.

I have no doubt it will be titled "Mission Accomplished"

Bore at party: I'm writing a book.

The late, great Peter Cook: Neither am I.

Peter Cook was the funniest man who ever drew breath. Pity he never got to see George Bush in action.

@5. I was going to be snarky and point out the same thing. And apparently snarky finds its etymology from Snide-Remark. I googled it to make sure I wasn't just going rogue on my vocab.

Still a good post. It's sad to know it'll likely still sell a shitload from all the rabid liberals who want to see him fall on his face. Internet piracy anyone?

If we hide all the crayons in the world- we can stop this from happening.

We've worked up the perfect book concept for President Bush, and hope to meet with his literary agent next week.
