Do You Have Your 2009 Calendar Yet?

Posted by Paul Constant on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 1:22 PM

1439600058.jpgIf you're into paying for your calendars, may I recommend the Vanishing Seattle calendar? It's based on Vanishing Seattle, by Clark Humphrey, and it focuses on all sorts of Seattle landmarks, most of which disappeared before I was born. It's nice to be drinking my morning tea and pointing my bleary eyes toward lost landmarks. And it's half-price now.

However, if you prefer free calendars and you like science fiction, The Website at the End of the Universe has a free downloadable PDF calendar with great old sci-fi magazine covers. Here's Miss May:

Plus, he's a nice guy.

It may not be the SLOG Calendar, but you'll be glad you got it.

Speaking of calendars, Slog Calendars are in my possession, and they look awesome.

That Vanishing Seattle calendar is amazing. I'm really looking forward to it after a long year staring at month after month of grotesque sock monkeys (don't ask).

So he's a nice guy, @1. Who cares? It's just another way for you to say "I know famous people". Christ. Take a piss next to John Kerry lately?

@6 - no, there are some people who are absolute jerks. I'd rather give money to the ones who aren't, but then maybe you don't agree with that concept.

For most of the time I've known him I had no idea that he was the same guy .... unlike you I don't dwell on names, I remember faces. He'd just show up at some thing where a bunch of people were getting a beer or there was some kind of event, so I never connected the man with who he was.

Cool link about the Ruggers calendar, JfS.

There are so many of these Images of America series coming out I can't keep up. In addition to "Vanishing Seattle" (it is impossible for a book with Dag's on the cover to not be good), there's a great one on Frederick & Nelson (RIP), Seattle's Historic Restaurants, Swedish Seattle, Green Lake, Ballard, Music in Washington, and on and on. Every time I go into a bookstore it seems like there's a dozen new ones.
