Books Deflowering Galore

Slog tipper Jesse says:

Also, it's illustrated by Edward Gorey.

The Recently Deflowered Girl was published in 1965. This LiveJournaller found it on "my friend's 84-year-old landlord's bookshelf." It is way out of print. I'd never heard of it before.

It is a shame it is out of print. (the cheapest seem to go for near 100 bucks) If they brought it back into print I think it would do well. It is an absolute scream. Nearly all women I know seem to have a favorite deflowering.

@5, I thought so too, because the writing is his style and he used a lot of pseudonyms. But the copyright says Mel Juffe and Edward Gorey, so maybe he was really just the illustrator.

Gorey books have always been hugely collectible. He did a ton of Anchor paperback covers that you used to be able to pick up in any used bookstore for 25 cents apiece.
