I'm So Glad You Reminded Me of Tremors, Seth

Posted by on Thu, Jan 8, 2009 at 4:28 PM

Slog commenter Seth writes:

I-5 closed to the south? The passes closed to the east? Water to the west and Canadia up north? WE ARE CUT OFF! LIKE IN TREMORS!

Which put me in mind of the movie my three brothers and I have watched together more than any other movie ever committed to film.

The only two problems with that Metafilter mashup—it gives away the ending and it skips over so much classic (I'm putting that in invisible quotation marks) dialogue:

Rhonda LeBeck: They only respond to vibration, right? Couldn't we... distract them somehow?
Valentine McKee: Yeah, something to keep 'em busy, like a... like a decoy!
Earl Bassett: Hey Melvin... wanna make a buck?

Stevens is open. THANK GOD, too, because my dad has been sleeping on my couch since Tuesday.

I actually got to see it in the theater when it came out and it was like ordering a burger and getting a meal from a five-star restaurant by surprise.

amazing.

She's the Britney for a whole generation of closeted gay guys who grew up listening to our parents' country music

Tremors is a great movie! Another terrific underrated film, now showing free On Demand by the way, is "Southern Comfort" about a bunch of weekend warriors isolated in the Louisiana Swamps being hunted by the locals... yummy!

We watched Tremors I and II back to back when we were snowed in during Snowpacalypse... Classic stuff...

'tremors' is proof that cgi is useless and film makers need to go back to using puppets and animatronic critters.

if you still need convincing review the part where the subterranean slug beast flies and the cliff and explodes.
woo!

What the heck... it was only about 7 hours ago that I told my friend (or anyone- ever in my life) that Valentine (Kevon Bacon) was my first crush!

*Tremors was on demand recently, I gained all the courage I could muster and watched the first 25 minuets until humiliating myself to death.

I loved this movie. It is has a real Saturday matinee B-reel feel to it - except it is funny on purpose.
