No Wondering Now What To Do Now That You Know That This Is The End

Posted by Charles Mudede on Sun, Jan 4, 2009 at 8:16 PM

I said:

Indeed, the timing of this war can not be separated from the political situation in America. This is a kind of squeezing of the last drops from the very end of a long and favorable period.

The experts say:

Many Middle East experts say Israel timed its move against Hamas, which began with airstrikes on Dec. 27, 24 days before Mr. Bush leaves office, with the expectation of such backing in Washington. Israeli officials could not be certain that President-elect Barack Obama, despite past statements of sympathy for Israel’s right of self-defense, would match the Bush administration’s unconditional endorsement.

“Obviously Bush, even by comparison with past U.S. presidents, has been very, very pro-Israel,” said Sami G. Hajjar, a longtime scholar of Middle East politics and a visiting professor at the National Defense University.

This is what it really comes down to. An era ends with a bang.

What if they fought this fucking battle to the very end? The very bloody end. I don't think that this conflict will ever be resolved, so they may as well fight it out, and the stronger side will be the only side.

I'm not saying that I want people to die, but, obviously, these two entities can not get their shit figured out. Well, enough I say. It's time for a resolution, and if that has to come from a big bloody battle, well then perhaps, the loss will be so great, that it's memory will serve as a future deterrent. A beacon from the past, to remind this dimwit species that war is evil.

None of this would have taken place if Hamas had not declared war by sending dozens and dozens of rockets into Israel.

@2: 1.5 million Gazans. 1,500,000 people. how many israeli arabs are there? 1,000,000? how many palestinians in the west bank? 2.5 million.

that's 5 million palestinians.

genocide is not a solution. or practical.

I'm having nearly as much trouble parsing the headline ("No Wondering Now What To Do Now That You Know That This Is The End") as the situation in Gaza itself.

Could you at least throw me a comma if you can't offer up a period or a full rewrite?

Charles,
I beg to differ. Unfortunately, it is not the end of an era. It will be more of the same. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict will continue under an Obama administration. No major "change" will occur. The greatest change so far occurred under George H. W. Bush's administration (1989-1993) when the US recognized the PLO. That was tectonic. Clearly, I hope I'm wrong and we get a cease fire but American governments since the Nixon administration have been decidedly pro-Israel. It's no secret that Arab states are irritated at Obama for his deafening silence.

Obama had better be less "pro-Israel" than Bush. The Palestinians have a right to exist too, and they also have the right to defend themselves.

Lol!

Charles dear, this is the beginning of the Obama era. Obama promised to escalate the wars! He's gonig for a troop surge in Afganistan.

As Seattle Jews, we believe Palestinians are vermin. Obama agrees or he would have one of his flunkies say otherwise. Obama has had daily intelligence briefings for months, he knew Israel was planning a slaughter.

Obama's silence is agreement! It is beautiful. While the American idiots wait for "Change hey can believe in" Obama has already banned gay marriage and inflamed the slaughter in the Middle East. It's going to be a great eight years for Seattle Jews!
