The Lack of Understanding

Posted by Charles Mudede on Fri, Jan 2, 2009 at 11:25 AM

From the preface:

Death, as we may call that unreality, is the most terrible thing, and to keep and hold fast what is dead demands the greatest force of all. Beauty, powerless and helpless, hates understanding, because the latter exacts from it what it cannot perform.

Proof of beauty's hate can be found here:

I don't understand. Does this have something to do with Amanda Knox? If not, why is Charles posting it?

After I'm dead, I want cute girls to get their pictures taken giving a thumbs-up in front of my tombstone. Do I have to write that into my will, or can I get by just spreading the word around?

Ah German Pretentiousness...er, Idealism. I totally meant Idealism. That said, she's missing Kant. And Goethe.

The death of a philosopher is always grounds for celebration.

So I'm a graduate student, consider myself moderately intelligent, yet I have no idea what this post is about.

This post is hilarious and wonderful. I am going to run out now, and get my picture taken giving the thumbs up at the graves of all my ideological enemies. Later!

Here's hoping Žižek will outlive that appallingly vapid little virago.
