Have You Read Paul Constant's Review of Revolutionary Road?

Oh, you should!

The problem is that every year around Oscar season, Hollywood dresses up like average people and puts on a caricature play of suburban life, and we know the score far too well at this point. There is sad, meaningless adultery. DiCaprio and Winslet relentlessly feud—from the very beginning of the film—in the kind of screaming, snot-splattered scenes that always wind up in Best Actor and Actress montages at awards shows. And you can throw all the money in the world at this sort of thing (the costumes and sets are beautiful), but without the soul of Yates's gorgeous language, it's only so much pretty whining.

Good review... I'd say Paul ripped the mask off that movie.

The problem with Paul Constant is that he is your typical self-congratulating critic. He has never published a book, never produced a film, never done anything public besides the critiquing of other people's creativity.

Oh, the authority of a retail clerk!

I personally loved his "Books that Make People Turn Into Assholes" feature a few years back.
(Obviously, he read a lot of them!!)

*Disclaimer- I'm in no way defending this Rev. Road movie. Common sense says its a mediocre film. I'm just a little tired of Paul jerking off all over everything....

If there's no hobo sex in an old model T between the two, then I don't think its worth watching either of them ever.

I was moderately intrigued by this movie, but the trailer had an awful lot of hysterical sobbing in it. It also had a line that went something like "I love Paris.. people are just so alive there". Which made me wince....

It's always a good idea to read more than one movie review. For example the SF Chronicle critic calls "Revolutionary Road" the best film of 2008. He gives a thorough rundown on his opinion.
