Dear Camera

Posted by Bethany Jean Clement on Fri, Jan 2, 2009 at 9:55 AM

Dear Camera,

Just as we were beginning to create sweet memories together, I lost you. You were my brand new camera. My mother and father purchased you for me this Christmas. You were the only thing I asked for, and I was so, so, so thankful to get you.

It all happened at [redacted]'s house at [redacted] 14th Ave. E. in between Republican and Harrison. It was an amazing night. You know, camera, you were there. We watched the Space Needle fireworks from the corner of Harrison, we ALL kissed each other, we drank hella champagne, we danced, we smoked pot for the first time in a year, we talked epically about astrology, we discovered the MEANING OF CRUNK.

When I woke up this morning, and you were not by my side, I was devastated. Had you gone home with someone else last night? I've searched high and low for you, I've called all around for you. No one knows your whereabouts, or maybe they don't want to break my heart with the bad news that you have moved on. If you're reading this, camera, I will wait for you. One day, you'll be back.

[Love,]
Chad T.

There is a fine balance point between bringing out the camera on, say, New Years Eve and getting too drunk not to not lose it. Sucks.

tip to people:

Take a picture of a handwritten or printed note that has your address on it, or your phone number, or your email address with an IF FOUND plea. Lock this picture so it can't be deleted. It's really easy.

If somebody finds your camera and scrolls through the pictures to try to descern where it came from, this solves it. Ususally there is pretty much no way of ever knowing unless it is engraved or something (extremely rare these days)

'course there is no way of knowing if in this instance the camera was stolen or found.

If the camera returns, ask it if it saw my missing cell phone - I haven't replaced it yet, and the seven years is almost up ...

Dear Chad,

I'm sorry, but I just can't picture myself with you anymore. We don't click together. I have to focus on myself. I've fallen in love with a film student and we're going to fuji... er, Fiji. I'll never forget you or our first date at the cheese tasting event.

Love,
Camera

Will you be remembered? will she be remembered?
Alone in a crowd, a bartered lantern borrowed
If I'm to be your camera, then who will be your face?

At least report it. That way it won't end up in one of the several used camera cases in town.

I agree with #11. Chad is quite datable.
