The Inheritance

Posted by Charles Mudede on Mon, Dec 29, 2008 at 9:24 AM

As the violence rages in Gaza, President Bush is putting the blame squarely on Hamas, while President-elect Barack Obama is keeping a low profile and sticking by his belief that "there is only one president at a time."
Indeed, the timing of this war can not be separated from the political situation in America. This is a kind of squeezing of the last drops from the very end of a long and favorable period.

at the end of 8 years of bush, is israel any better off? the solution is generations away. neither side has the courage to embrace peace.

despite their adherence to strong, related, peaceful religions.

i still can't wrap my head around the catch-22 that both sides are in. Hamas is a terrorist organization. Israel has to defend itself. But war is not the way to beat terrorists. Israel has severely abused the Palestinians and has the upper hand. But lobbing bombs and sending in suicide bombers won't beat the Israelis and it just makes them madder.
Israel has every right to bomb the shit out of Hamas, and the Palestinians have every right to be enraged about the way that they have been treated.

But violence is not the answer.

I had almost forgotten what it was like to listen to the daily drumbeat of murderous stupidity that is Isreal and Palistine. They deserve each other.

Obama is a Zionist tool (just like GW BUSH) who is going to get the USA involved in a catastrophic war on behalf of Israel. You Seattle liberals are SO NAIVE.

Charles for the insightful win.

Although it's one most Americans (supporting either of the many sides) won't agree with.

Hamas needs Israeli aggression in order to solidify its support among Palestinians and Israel needs Hamas in order to justify its continued persecution of the Palestinians.

i think obama should not stand on the sideline because whatever the bush administration does he will inherit this policy . he should state his position on the Gaza war so that both the American people and middle Easterners understand how he will tackle this current crisis in Gaza.
