At least it wouldn't dump salt in the Puget Sound.

Google maps didn't exist then, let alone the API, but thanks for playing.

Yeah! The Lake Union Hooters would be vaporized...and not a moment too soon.

It's cute, but topography matters too. Say goodbye to Pioneer Square, the stadiums, and west Lake Union. Capitol Hill is slightly less fucked than it appears.

there was an online mapping thing some years back that showed you where fallout would go. that one was a bit handier.

How big of a nuke are we talking here? 12 Megatons? 25 Megatons?

@6 greg: sure, but our prevalent weather is south-easterly, so capitol hill is still fucked.

@8 comte: my advanced reading skills have determined that the answer is 15kt. other options are available from the drop-down menu in the lower-left corner. a more relevant question (keep this in mind for next time) would be surface or at-altitude detonation.

What do the concentric rings mean? I'm assuming the dark purple in the center means "completely destroyed" but what about the other rings?

The idea of removing glaciers in Alaska with atomic weapons was suggested by former AIP leader John Vogler when he held a seat in the Alaskan congress.

I guess radioactive gold is still gold.
