In Greece, an angry mob literally trashed a Christmas tree to protest the death of a 15-year-old boy. The video is worthwhile viewing, especially for the previous Christmas tree, which the rioters burned to a crisp.
Before you trash the Greeks, please note that Christmas trees have nothing to do with Christmas.
They are not Christian.
They are not Greek.
They are a remnant of Germanic paganism.
This is in a way a rebuke to the EU, whose policies are determined by Northern Europeans, while Southern Europe gets screwed in the currency conversion. They keep talking about the teenager - it's not just about the kid. It's about the economy, the 600-euro youth and the 200-euro pensioners.
Also - bear in mind that St. Nick was from what is now Turkey. And he had nothing to do with toys for kids or "Bad Santa" (a great film, nevertheless) - he was involved in rescuing women from prostitution, and in saving sailors.
