Added to Savage's post on problematic pastor Rick Warren, by one Yucca Flower:

"Rick Warren says he's inclined to have sex with every beautiful woman he sees."

Never have I been more relieved to be homelier than a mud fence.

Thank you, Yucca Flower.

Funny because now everytime I see him it reminds me that Obama is probably a homophobe.

@5, be careful about saying that; someone will call you a racist. But yeah, I kinda agree with you. Then I remember how the black male community has ALWAYS stood up for gay and lesbian rights... *cough cough*

I used to think that maybe Obama just did not get the pain that Warren and others like him cause. But then I am starting to think maybe he DOES understand the pain it causes the gay community, maybe he does.

Perhaps that's why he just appointed an out lesbian to a cabinet-level position. Or why he's reportedly vetting an openly gay man to be Secretary of the Navy.

You silly faggots, we just say we will pander to you for your vote and then fuck you over. I mean what are you going to do? Vote REPUBLICAN!?!?! LOL!!!!!

flamingbanjo I'm pretty sure the position he gave the lesbian is a second tier advisory position and it'll probably be a cold day in hell before he appoints the gay guy to head the navy.

anyone here check out melissa etheridge's wife's perspective on Rick Warren?
Unlike the majority posting here, she's willing to reach out to someone who doesn't (yet) agree with her entirely. Partly, I suspect, as a means to an end, and also as a typical gesture of judeo-christian-buddhist-muslim-etc charity. Sullivan is on board, too.
I hate to say it, but that's probably the only way to get anywhere with marriage equality.
Insisting over and over that you're right doesn't help - you have to show them why they should care, because apparently, you need their support.
Otherwise, they can and will inflict a world of hurt upon you, because in a down economy that is only getting worse, the fight for marriage equality will seem to many to be an unnecessary remnant of political correctness.

Marriage equality is closer than the people proving their superiority by trashing Rick Warren will let you acknowledge. Show that you're better and more gracious, and thereby help win over voters on the other side one at a time. It will happen. Eyes on the prize.

Everybody needs to take a moment to chill the fuck out and re-read Dr. King's Letter from Birmingham Jail. Go on. You're snowed in, so you've got time.
