King5:

Two tour buses have collided and one his hanging over Interstate 5.

The accident happened near Denny Way in Seattle at about 12:30 p.m.

“We were going down the hill and the hill was very icy and the driver tried to turn and we ran into the other bus and it knocked it … into the guardrails and the windows in our bus just shattered,” said Nicole, a passenger on one of the buses.

I just can't believe a bus would go down E Thomas.

I slipped and fell at that intersection just about an hour ago. It's a steep sheet of ice. Smart bus drivers to take that route...

@3 - That's what I can't believe! Why would two charter buses go down Thomas?

Seriously. Why the hell were two charter buses full of Moses Lake choir kids down there?

Is Denny still closed? Is that why they went down Thomas?

Tour buses wouldn't make it on those streets DRY. What the fuck were those drivers thinking?

"Currently Hanging". I was really in my mind hoping that when this went up on Slog that wouldn't be the headline, it's too easy! Funny, but easy funny.

So much for professionally trained drivers being smarter than us amateurs.

The more stories I hear like this, the more outraged I become. Our mayor who incessantly bragged about setting up a web site to get potholes filled in 24 hours has no idea how to keep our streets from icing up after a mild snow. Meanwhile he seeks billions of dollars on a waterfront tunnel boondoggle, on Paul Allen redevelopment schemes for the super-rich, on 2 way mercer that won't improve traffic, and on a streetcar to nowhere.

You can't blame a snow this mild for Seattle's incompetence to even keep its streets clear, when he so obviously has other priorities!

They can and they do drive up and down Thomas and often Melrose. Why they choose these routes is beyond me - but I guess they got a great view of the skyline (by becoming part of it)...

#15 - shit, you beat me to it.

Something about drivers on those private passenger bus lines - seriously, why are they so often the most psychotic drivers? Even MUNI drivers are comparatively considerate.

Is this the same bus company that had a driver try to drive under the bridge in the Arboretum and ended up trashing the bus?
