ice storms are hell on earth if you have to travel anywhere, but they make everything so damn pretty.

There was nothing pretty about that New England ice storm. The ice on those trees lasted half-a-day, and all that was left was uprooted and splintered trees, some of which caused damage to houses and cars, or pulled down power lines and left people with no electricity or heat when temperatures dipped into the single-digits at night.

Fuck winter.

That storm was pretty awful for the state everywhere except Boston where it didn't hit. Some people were without power for four days.

Schools were closed Bellevue, I hear. Ayup, it was a frigid 36 degrees at 9 am! Brrrr! And there was an expectation of snow, all day!
Fortunately the hardy Pacific Northwesterners have many layers of REI fleece and can withstand the wintry onslaught.

I don't think it's too cold here. It's just that I don't have the proper wardrobe for this shit anymore. And long underwear?! Fuck that. I'm not Mormon, and I'm not trash.

Its going to be -15 here tomorrow. I plan to boycott the weather by knitting and drinking and watching the snow be pretty with indoor heating.

people in the united states are always without power during wind & icestorms b/c your government refuses to put the powerlines underground. the solution to your yearly misery is totally simple, but for some reason americans are perfectly happy with their above-ground powerlines that aren't just dangerous in storms, but are also horrible eyesores in every city and every town.

Lovely!

And schools closed even though the roads were clear, easy going and the snow is still melting and has been melting all day long. At least around the Everett area for me.
