Achievement!

So after you make a video like this, which points out continuity errors in the Star Trek universe:

What is the exact feeling you experience?

Is it:

A) A deep sense of satisfaction at proving the depth and breadth of your Star Trek knowledge?
B) A kind of hollow, empty lack of sensation?
C) Suicidal depression?
D) Jealousy that at least three other people have done the exact same thing?

Because I can say that, as someone who is reposting the video, I think probably B).

D), for sure.

I'd say A, followed by D, then B and finally C.

B. Definitely B.

I'd have to go with C, having the knowledge that I'm such an unskilled tool I need 9:56 to explain relatively simple continuity problems.

C would be the best for society and the species in general

My reaction is I really want to see that one where they time travel and hang out with Mark Twain.

So I guess that would be E) Nostalgic Shame.

I just watched the first 5 episodes of TOS Season one on Netflix.

It's been that way from the get go. After the first (broadcast) episode with Bones, they suddenly switch from the more svelte style of lycra uniforms to these ski lodge style woolen collar style, and Bones is gone for two episodes...then he's suddenly back again!

It's really sad since I read a book about the background production of TOS and they said how they went to great lengths to manage writers by giving them a "Bible" of all the consistent traits of each character.

I'm a total nerd because I am about to say that.

"Data's emotion chip doesn't really fit with these because we can assume that he has modified his emotion chip after Star Trek Generations to be more versatle during First Contact and Insurrection."

The Wes crusher in Uniform thing doesn't fit either because it was a deleted scene from Nemesis, thus not Canon....

wow, I need a girlfriend. :)

I'd go for 'E'

As in, "I used to, but really don't give a fuck anymore about the old series', but I'm looking forward to the new movie".

Sylar, Roldi, and Sean of the Dead? Those are some actors I want to watch.

Mr. Constant-- I do appreciate your sharp insight and remarkable ability to not only read a hundred books a day, but also traverse the breadth of our weird wired culture; But I humbly suggest that you might not appreciate the workings of the Otaku mindset.

Knowledge and culture at this stage in "History" has formed so many incredibly miniscule niches that the video you present represents the time and energy of at least half a Bachelor's Degree. It stands on it's own worth, your snarky down-looking dismissal notwithstanding.

That said, you must think it is amusing, interesting and relevant enough to post for our bloggy audience here. And I don't mean just so they can feel somehow superior in the hierarchy of geeks.

Yaar.

I was trying to think of a bunch of dramatic reasons how a lot of these inconsistencies could be solved, but all I could come up with is "ZOMG, I LOVE THIS FRANCHISE!"

Part 1 of 5!? I don't have that kind of time, not if I'm going to rewatch some of my favorite episodes and movies.
