Is Mars Hill gaining new converts or are people leaving their current churches and attending Mars Hill instead?

The dirty little secret about the mega churches is that lots of people show up, but not that many people stick around. This despite, or perhaps because of, a very organized structure that attempts to insert itself into every facet of the new attendee's life: Men are asked to join various xtian men's groups, the women get doted upon by the matrons of the church and of course they have all manner of indoctrination for the kids.

They make it as easy as possible - no messy theology to worry about, no need to dress up, lots of shiny objects and live music at their ceremonies - yet they have terrible retention problems.

Which just goes to show that many Americans aren't as stupid as we are assumed to be by the corporations and churches.

I'll bet at least that many have become anti- religion during the same period. Did you see Bush and the Pope both oppose the U.N. declaration on human rights? I guess evil minds do think alike.

@3

The Dan-Cheney ticket is a good idea. They're both homosexuals, they both like to be on talk shows, and both have 'knowledge' of facesitting. One's a guy and the other is female, they've got my V-ote.

Damn, that snow ogre actually ATE the cute lil fishy - won't see that kind of egregious mayhem on The Cartoon Network.

@6:

I've got about 2 1/2 - 3 inches on the back side of CapHill. Not a huge accumulation to be sure, but then I'm guessing it's not going anywhere for a few days either.

well, at least the U.S. is still showing concern for the rights and treatment of those infected with HIV accross the world. More than the gay community is doing at home
