Chicago Is a World Class City

Posted by on Sat, Dec 13, 2008 at 11:12 AM

Chicago has a cat circus. Seattle does not. Chicago's cat circus is currently mounting its annual Christmas show: "MEOWY CHRISTMAS". Seattle's non-existent cat circus is currently not mounting anything.

lioncut.jpgSeattle will not be a world-class city until we have a cat circus too.

Hey, don't you remember the guy on Broadway outside the Urban Outfitters (before BWM was swallowed by the QFC) who would set up a table with small circus hoops and such...like an obstacle course. Then walk his cat through the course to entertain and ask for tips. I think he had a top hat as well, maybe a cape. Anyway...that's all I have for you Dan

Does that guy with the trained cats still panhandle outside the Fred Meyer building on Broadway? There's your cat circus.

Is there still a Broadway Fred Meyer?

I think he, or another guy with a very similar act can be seen frequently down at the Market as well. Although, I expect it's a little too cold right now for al fresco cat circusing.

But the point is - we DO have a cat circus in Seattle, albeit a very small one.

In your FACE, Chi-town!

Seattle is not a city. It is a small town pretending to match up to Chicago, NYC, or San Francisco.

I've seen a guy on Broadway a few times lately who has a cute little Siamese on his shoulder named Rascal. Maybe that's the beginning of our cat circus?

No, Banna, the Broadway Fred Meyer has evolved into a QFC. I miss the ol' Fred Meyer sometimes.

@4, Seattle as a whole doesn't pretend to match up, only the hogcallers in our disproportionately noisy aspiring classes. Seattle as a whole reads more than most, doesn't wax its brows, and pays no attention to world classiness. If there's any enduring civic virtue around here, that's about it.

@4: San Francisco is a drug-ridden crimehole. Its per capita crime rate is higher than New York City. Its drug arrest rate is almost numerically matched to NYC, in spite of having only 10% the population.

Oh, but they have gay people-- world class!

Seattle will never entice a real Cat Circus to relocate here until we have a world-class, dedicated facility to house it. I propose a public/private partnership, in which the public would pay all the costs and the private folks would receive the profits.

I hear there's a nice touring cat-show - I think it's Russian? We should call them.

I think not having a cat-circus adds to your classiness.

About the only thing going for Richmond, VA.

Hey, Richmond is cool! At least you guys have black people.

Obviously you people and Dan spend little time outside during the night. Seattle has Cat Opera from about 6pm until 3am EVERY DAM NIGHT IN MY HOOD. And then they all retire and have Cat Sex. Chicago does not have Cat Opera. Any Clown can put on a Circus, But only Seattle Cats in Heat do Opera.

What does Charles think of his beloved cats demeaning themselves to entertain the masses by jumping through hoops and trotting around on their hind legs? Not so noble now, eh?

Sargon - the cat prima donnas in the alley outside my apartment beg to differ with you, sir.

Ah, Chicago. Murder capital of the year. Corrupt mayor. Corrupt governor. Shitty weather. Nothing to eat but meat and potatoes.

If Seattle had a cat circus it would move to Oklahoma City, Now that is a World Class City.

@20 - Maybe this is apropos of Dan's new "anti-classiness" purge? Sounds like a weird off-shoot of Dan confusing seriously fucking up a cat's naturally beautiful coat with his bias again high art, great fashion, classical music, since apparently homo's who like that stuff hurt Dan's feelings at some point and now we must pay (though if this is just about animal cruelty, you nailed it. ew! leave that cat alone! it's embarrassed!)

That seems like kind of a fucked-up thing to do to a cat.

I wish we had a veterinarian on this blog who could tell us how shaving most of a cat's body affects the cat.

That guy at Pike Place Market with the so-called "cat shelter" is a total fraud. Nobody in the Seattle animal rescue community knows anything about him, and if you ask him specific questions about the shelter, he gets really nervous.

Um...As a Chicago transplant here on relocate for my job, Uh Seattle kindda sucks. The people here are ridiculous, poor drivers, self-entitled douches.

Chicago is the city that works. How it works doesn't matter, we just get it done. Unlike the bullshit, sit around and talk about it attitude of this hell-hole. ( I just started singing Spinal Tap's Hell Hole to myself)

I will say that the Stranger is a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark puckered asshole of a place.

All the best,
John

The shaved cat is exhibitng the "lion cut" which also features a shaved tail with a tuft at the end. It is used widely by breeders to prevent matting and promote cooling in long-haired cats during hot summer months. My friend Steph always had her pussy shaved each June, as well as her cat. Although she was a bit touchy at first "Miss Puddy" as the cat was some-what ickily named always appeared comfortable during the hot summer months and never coughed up hairballs; neither did Steph.

@34, godspeed back to your home, to your douchebag governor, your douchebag mayor, your douchebag sucky airport that closes at the first hint of a fog and fucks up flights across the U.S., your disgusting douchebag piss-smelling buses, your douchebag shitty weather, your douchebag cat circus, your douchebag rickety L-trains that never run on schedule and skip half the stops to make up time, your douchebag Marshall Field's that got bought out by Macy's and is now a pathetic ghost of its former self, your douchebag bland endless sprawl, your douchebag nickname for your city "Chi-Town", your douchebag penis envy for NYC, your douchebag nasal twang that makes me want to barf, and your douchebag niggaz shooting everyone in sight and making Chicago, GLORIOUS CHICAGO, the Mudhole of the Prairie, the murder capital of the year for 2008.
