YO CHICAGO FAN!!! Blago gets pinched. Expect the right wingers to start going apeshit over Obama's non-ties to this douchebag.

As a friend put it, his hair alone is a criminal offense. They should have elected Rich Whitney (G).

I would never look up a Scorpions album on Wikipedia.

But I did today!

@1 Yes! Crazy! I'd always sort of assumed he'd get caught running afoul of the law at some point. But pay-to-play for Obama's Senate seat? Wow.

He's your guy
when stocks are high
but beware when they start to descend
it's then that those louses
go back to their spouses

Calling in sick to support gay rights? Brilliant. I'm supposed to use my job to make a political statement when there are layoffs every other day? Thanks, but no thanks. I'll send Obama a postcard, but I can't jeopardize my livelihood in this economy.

This "Day without a Gay" thing is about as helpful as those "Don't Buy Gas Today" things back when gas cost more than bottled water.

Apparently they also want people to withdraw $80 from their bank accounts tomorrow to show the economic impact of the gays. I'm not sure how well that's going to work, but since I need cash soon anyways, I'm going to play along.

Jeez. Nothing on your list about Blagojevich? You leave it up to those of us in the comments section to bring it up? It had long been announced by 7:38AM.

Anything to the rumors that Lisa Madigan is now a good candidate to fill Obama's seat? Then, she likely won't challenge Quinn for governor!

Are we allowed to do our jobs if we happen to work for companies that openly support gay rights? Seems like positive behavior should be reinforced, after all ...

I'm self employed. So if I call in sick on Wed, the only person financially impacted is myself.

This is a stupid idea.

Also, no more fucking streetcars. Light rail, yes. Busses, yes. Monorail, yes. But despite the arguable success of the SLUT, streetcars are a stupid fucking waste. They are slower than busses, tie up traffic all around them occupying the same streets already bogged down with cars and busses, and create a hazard for bikes. The SLUT is a cute toy for Paul Allen, but no more of them please.

I think a better campaign would be to pick a time and day where everybody who supported gay rights would walk outside and raise their hand, then look around. It's a simple enough gesture that you could actually gain widespread participation. People would see that they are not alone and that could be more empowering than any march.

One minute, that's all it takes. We're not alone.

Mighty Slayer!

I cant believe the Stranger is finally giving some ink to metal. If only Grandy and the folks at the music section weren't such snobs for mopey indie music.

Who is that drummer? Thats not Lombardo.

This whole "Day Without a Gay" thing is like that movie "Day Without a Mexican". Did anyone else see that? The whole city shut down. But they were abducted by aliens or something...

@21: liquor and whores... bring it on.

The dog video AND the streetcar piece (even with the same title: a desire named streetcar) were posted a while ago already.

I thought "Day Without Gay" meant no one would be gay that day. That Dan and Erica be gettin' it on. Imagine my disappointment.
