Slog Happy, This Thursday! Now With Presents!

Posted by on Mon, Dec 8, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Slog Happy returns to its original schedule, happening this Thursday, the second Thursday of the month at... are you ready for this? TWILIGHT EXIT!

Later this month the Twilight Exit will be closing up shop for a few days and moving to a new location, so we have to give the old space a proper goodbye! There's a lot of memories in those walls, after all.

And to go with the spirit of the holiday season, those who feel so inclined may bring a gift for a Slog Happy gift exchange. Make something, buy something for really cheap (like $5 or less cheap... we're in a recession), or find something in the back of your closet that you don't want anymore. Wrap it up all pretty and then bring it on down to the Twlight Exit on Thursday to exchange for something just as great, crappy, worthless, or wonderful! (The Stranger will also be spiking the pot with a few goodies, so you could walk away with a sweet prize!)

Gifts aren't necessary to participate—if presents aren't your thing, you're more than welcome to come down to drink, eat, and be merry. Your happy face is a good enough gift.

See you Thursday! 6 pm! At the Twilight Exit (2051 E Madison)!

Hmm. What old stuff did my mom unload on me that I could unload there? I'll have to think about this.

Hey, Poe's right! It IS our one-year anniversary. How appropriate that we celebrate it with excessive drinking and cheap, thoughtless gifts.

Holy shit, I had no idea it was Slog Happy's one-year anniversary! What a shitty SH hostess I am... Yay! Another reason to party!

Tonight is Schmader's presentation of Battlefield Earth, Thursday is Slog Happy WITH a white elephant gift exchange (a combination of two of my favorite things), and Friday is Monique's and my birthday blowout at Cafe Metropolitain. This is basically the best week ever.

I have to fly to Spokane the next day, so all the more reason to drink, be merry, and exchange random crap, right? I love it.

Can I donate a signed picture of myself? Its worth waaaaay more than $5, but I don't mind.

@17 - only if you painted it with watercolors.

That goddamn book series has permanently ruined the word twilight for me.

@ 19: also the word forks.

@19 - Yes, every time I type the words 'twilight exit' in an email, gmail kindly bombards me with all sorts of ads for dreamy sparkly vampire crap. It's bad enough that I have to sell those books hand over fist at work.

Would you ethicists object if I brought $5 worth of bootlegged DVDs?

@23 This is Slog Happy. Nothing is off limits. I hope one of the presents will be that pair of Joh's grease-soiled underpants.

Has it really been a year since I started having these monthly binge drinking episodes with other members of the Slog community? Ah, how the time flies...

I will probably have to attend this one.

If I lived anywhere nearby, I'd bring my barely-used (stiction in the 80MB hard drive), un-bacon-stained Mac IIvx with 13" monitor.

Sorry to disappoint.

I agree with Hernandez, @23.

Besides, you pay for bootleg music costs when you buy the DVD or CD in recordable format.

I could always bring my Apple II+ in it's 48K ROM (172K RAM) glory ...

Good thing for you guys the non-profit I work at just went under and gave me all their free shit. I think free=under $5. So if I brought the computer I got for free, it's technically be under $5. But instead you'll probably get office supplies or ice wine, plus $5.

Jesus Christ on a hot cross bun, #31, give it a rest. We're tired of your stupid, demanding bullshit. If you don't have the Goddamn balls to show up, then at least stop pissing and moaning all over the fucking comments.

And Lara: Ice wine rules.

I beg your pardon Greg, but I also never show up, and I always demand a champagne fountain. It's a tradition that the slogpeople have come to cherish.

Speaking of which: I would like to come to this, but the organizers have not provided a venue with a champagne fountain. Thus, I will not be able to attend.

Ha-Rumph!

Catalina, you are forgiven, because you at least don't post random Youtube videos of dogs with your comments.
