Homo Jesus Has Two Mommies...

A Dutch gay group has organized a "Pink Christmas" festival for the first time in Amsterdam, featuring a manger stall with two Josephs and two Marys. Other attractions in the 10-day festival include parties, an open-air market, gay-themed films, an ice skating rink and religious services on Dec. 25....Some Christian groups have protested. The organization Christians for Truth says the idea "mocks the core concepts of Evangelism."
Since one of the core concepts of evangelism—perhaps its only concept—seems to be rabid homo-hatred, I'd have to agree with Christians for Truth on this one. But is it more or less offensive than that sign the atheists put up in Olympia? (Via Queerty.)

Dan - This is part of my strategy to rid America of fundies. I am paying foreigners to stage outlandish, over the top, in your Chistian face, sorts of events that will cause fundy Christers' heads to spin and panties to twist so tightly that circulation is impaired. Well, if ANY child born in human history could have had two mommies, it was Jesus. I mean literally, since His conception didn't involve heterosex at all. Not even a turkey baster!

I don't know. This is being 'in your face' for the sake of 'in your face' and no other reason. I can think of no other reason for this than to specifically insult and enrage christians. We have to remember that though there are a number of fundamentalist, close minded, gay hating christians out there, there a large number of christians that are gay loving, gay accepting, and even (gasp!) gay out there. I'm an atheist. I have no religeous feelings about this, but I don't aim to insult anyone, purely because I disagree with their beliefs. This is disrespectful, and doesn't look good on the 'gay cause.' This is christian bashing, equally as bad as gay bashing. Targeting an entire sect, because some and not all of them are unintelligent people.
I think of my grandparents. They love and accept everyone, gay, straight, white, not white. That's who they are. And I don't think they would like this. Not because they are opposed to homosexuals, but because it's disrespectful to their beliefs, which are held in the truly Christian, "Do unto others..." sense of the term.
