Good for them. I humbly suggest they form a club: Students for a Douchebag-free Daily.

It was alright, but I thought it was kind of weird to have Dr Cauce get up and admonish people to be respectful and have scholarly dialogue and then immediately have someone from Radical Women get up and start swearing and calling for militancy. Not exactly a unified message.

@2

Reminds you a little of those useless Iraq War protests that attracted every possible schmuck with a banner and a cause, doesn't it.

I seriously hope John Fey kills himself. I would be so happy. I wouldn't mind the "gay reaction" taking the blame, either. Good stuff.

I'm sorry, but that last photo is just hilarious. I don't know why, but I giggle every time I look at it. Earnest college kids are just so adorable.

Was the crowd really that small? I think more people work for the Stranger.

@7: It's also roughly equivalent to the Daily's readership.

How hard can it be to come up with a meter that works?

Hey Hey Mister Fey
Bam! Bam! Buh-Buh BAM!

Fucking sheep aint gay
Buh-Buh Bam! Bam! Bam!

And what's with the two lines in the middle? "Listen to what we say"??? Couldn't he at least manage "Listen close when we say" (Buh-Buh Bam! Buh-Buh Bam!)

Forget College, that kid needs to go back to grammar school.

the baby gay and his sweet supportive faghag holding the megaphone mic for him is too cute for words.

if you look carefully you can see my female associate in some of those pictures.

@7 - yeah it was really that small. I'm in the third pic, with the dark jacket at the back of the crowd where the left hand lightpost is.

I totally agree with Judith.

Some of the speeches were ... um ... typical. The rest were good though.

@9 Not to nit pick signs either, but his name is John Fay, not John Fey.

John Fey can not comment on the protest at this time, he is too busy removing the glass from his ass and reviewing the video tape of it.
Thank you.

Hey!

It was good. The diversity of the speeches was a good reflection of the complexity of the issue.

AJ: Are you that fat assed Alex Jon?

The Daily's readership is huge, but you wouldn't know that because you've never stepped foot on a college campus outside of taking photographs.

@9 Whatever, the guy is totally cute enough not to need meter or rhyme.

@17, If you say so. When I went to the U, I didn't read it, and none of my friends read it; I didn't actually know anyone who did read it.

Okay, okay, I'll admit, every now and then, when I got to class early and there was a copy sitting in front of me, I did flip through it to see if there were any good TS ads.

That sign is really gay. You wrote something I disagree with, you should be fired. How I love open minded libs.

Just saw a Komo 4 news report on it. I almost swallowed my fork it was that bad. They focused on the Man/Sheep drawing and couldn't even quote anything from Fay's article.

For most of the people I knew, "reading" the daily usually meant doing the crossword during lecture.

some FACTS - crowd count was about 300 at the peak - excellent turnout - I counted from the steps

not much like this at the U for years, go baby fags and baby dykes

GOOD speakers, the guy who pulled it together did an excellent closing speech

And the TALL one with the sign and Milk hat is a string bean dish, also involved in homeless issues. I have his name and number somewhere in a pocket ...hmmmm.....

all you naysayers are cynical trash, useless to all but your mommies

As a European, I have always wondered: why are the signs at American demonstrations always so tacky? Can't American protesters write/paint nice, straight, easily-readable-from-a-distance letters? Do children make those? Or is it the intention to make the signs look as if the protesters joined the demo spontaneously, just pulling the next best piece of cardboard out of the trashcan and quickly scribbling something on it with crayons before joining the crowd ?

@26: I slept in, didn't have time. Wanna meet me at 9am in the Resource Center next time? and @9 can come help make some chants. You know I'm always down to be better at shit talkin' to conservatives. See you then?

Jeez I didn't even notice Milk was holding a sign. That dude is just about the hottest thing I've ever seen.
