Unabashed Sentimentality Alert

The Metro Employees Historic Vehicle Association—a group of retired and current Metro employees who work to preserve vintage Metro buses like the 1963 model pictured above—is running a tour of holiday lights on Saturday, December 13, on a historic Metro bus. Five bucks! Hate the holidays/cuteness/pretty lights? They also do out-of-town tours in the summer and fall, and trips along the downtown trolley lines. More about the MEHVA—including a list of recommended reading and viewing (!!) here.

Ah, old time Seattle! Somewhere I have a stack of 15 cent bus tickets and a Wallingford Zoo key...

Erica, thank you so much for the recognition of MEHVA and the great work they do in preserving our rolling transit heritage. I heartily second the recommendation to take one of their heritage tours -- see their Web site for the info (the Click is on Erica's original post)

DON'T DO IT! A group of us went about 2 years back. The tour is not 2 hours long. It is 4 HOURS LONG! We made the mistake of bringing drinks and then found out that there were NO BATHROOM BREAKS! We stopped once, 3 1/2 hours in. Cute, yes. Worth it, no.
