Every Child Deserves a Mother and a Father

Posted by Dan Savage on Mon, Dec 1, 2008 at 4:39 PM

PI:

Seattle police are asking for the public's help in finding the man charged in the death of a South Seattle woman.

Jose Angel Blanco, also known as Jose A. Blanco-Naranjo, is the ex-husband of Noemi Lopez, who was found stabbed to death about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7600 block of 46th Avenue South. He was charged with Monday with first-degree murder.... Blanco had been at the house Sunday morning and argued with Lopez, her oldest daughter told police. He was alone with Lopez at her house when her children, ages 6, 13 and 15 left for church at 12:30, according to court documents.

At about 2:45 p.m., the oldest daughter received a voice mail from her father telling her not to go inside the house and that he was sorry for what he'd done.

Dan, I know this is your thing, and you love proving that the straights can be shitty parents, but since this is so local, could you at least include some blog coverage about this? The Rainier Valley Post lives next door and has been keeping up with things. Can you at least feel sorry for the kids?

Why not point out the fact that they are poor mexicans.

Ever thought about reporting on the relative crime rates of poor mexicans vs the white population accounting for population?

I think you will find that this is more the result of being a minority instead of being strait.

Those fucking Mexicans ruin everything they touch. Except for trailers with cooking instruments inside.

Here we go again.

You can find individual anecdotes as evidence to support ANY hypothesis. If you want to discredit the homophobes, in the long term you're better off citing credible studies.

But credible studies and academic literature are boring whereas sensationalist, morbid expoloitation gets peoples' attention.

Just ask Faux News.

Way to take a page from the playbook of the MSM's worst offenders.

Go, Dan.

My heart goes out to this family, but unfortunately the Rainier Valley Post has been on an emotional rampage calling racism against the media in this tragic case. I really hate to say this, but domestic violence like this is so common in our community (I predict it will only get worse as the economy continues to tank) that it barely merits a blip in news coverage - although Ch. 5 led their 6:30 p.m. broadcast with this news. The public tends to yawn, nod "how sorry" and move on. Unless you live next door to the victims and have a blog - in which case you cry racism because there isn't bigger and better coverage of something that happens all too much in our community these days.

At least some of you understand what is going on here and not blaming everyone else.

There are serious problems with many of the racial minorities in this country. Violence, Drugs, bastardized children, etc...

Now, how well is multiculturaism working? I mean, I have no desire to send my kids to school with these little budding thugs. Look at Africa and Mexico to see what happens when these classes behave without a white, European, or Asian culture to dominate them.

I don't really think we want to bring somalia or Chiapas to the great NW, do we?

Yes, this murder is much more important than other murders because it happened much closer to us. A human life can be valued at C - (r^3) - (d^2) where C is a constant, r is skin color, and d is distance from the valuer in miles. An American abroad? Tragic. The African Immigrant next door? Tragic. Thousands of Indians in India? Trivial.

I was beginning to wonder if something had happened to Dan -- it took almost 24 hours for him to get this up on Slog!

I didn't even notice that the people in the article were Hispanic until I read the comments. You think this sort of thing doesn't happen in white families?

Rico Suave and Ecce homo you are a disgrace. I can't believe all you take from this tragedy is something to fuel your racist views. How about being thankful it wasn't you or someone close to you. The reality is, this happens everywhere no matter what race you are. Poor Mexicans? I'd rather be a poor Mexican than an ignorant ass like you. Budding thugs? You wish to protect your kids from thugs? Try protecting them from child molesters and mass murderers! THE MAJORITY OF THEM HAPPEN TO BE WHITE!!! NOT poor Mexicans!
