Scott Bailey's 38º 55’ 23.04”N 77º 02’ 32.18”W (Washington, DC), acrylic and oil on wood panel, 36 by 64 inches

At Lawrimore Project. (Gallery site here.)

Scott Bailey is a Wenatchee artist who deserves your love and has never had the chance to get it before—this is his first big solo outing in Seattle. These incredibly layered, detailed, rich paintings are based on aerial views that have something to do with the current wars: I haven't had time to read up on them fully but you can here.

Please understand that this JPEG is to this real painting what the New York Times Thanksgiving liveblog was to your real turkey dinner.

The show, called Oversight, closes Saturday.

the Adams Morgan neighborhood is a statement on war?

Um, more likely a statement on the salsa dance scene in DC. That'd be the Havana nightclub y'all are looking at there in the center. I think the dancing starts at 9:30 tonight....

que bailen to'os y'all--
