Miniature horses for the blind!

Finally, SOMEONE gave tiny horses a reason to exist. Those things have been bugging me forever.

The only problem is you're not supposed to pet or acknowledge guide dogs or they'll get spoiled or something... And if these little guys are walking around it's going to be like its the day after Christmas for eternity.

Did anyone else notice that at the bottom of each page of the guide horse site there's a link to golf instruction? I thought maybe they would show miniature horses playing golf, but no such luck.

@9: If I was high I would probably take one look at that picture and think "Oh my God! There's a 20 foot woman walking a horse!"

The reason miniature horses exist is to bite horse-mad little girls who try to pet them. Not that I'm speaking from personal experience or anything.

I really hope if for some awful reason I go blind and become paralyzed, I get both a guide pony and a helper monkey.

Miniature horses were originally bred for hauling rocks out of small tunnels. Also know as mining.

the picture is so overexposed, maybe a blind person took it.

I just recently bought a mini to be my guide, and a well-known horse trainer is working with her. It's the most awesome thing in the world. Being blind isn't fun; in fact, it's crap, but Cali will help me be more independent, and no, I don't plan to put tennis shoes on her. That would make it look a bit ridiculous. If anyone's interested, here's the blog that Cali's trainer set up to document the training.
