The only place you should be spending money this Black Friday is at Lo-Ball, the Ballard wing of the People's Republic of Komedy.
Their line-up looks excellent, with Dan Carroll, Paul Merrill, Ian Schempp, and Stranger Gong Show winner Solomon Georgio, Seattle's best—or only?—gay-African-immigrant comedian, who won the Gong Show with this joke: "It may surprise you to know that, as a gay man, I'm a big supporter of homophobia—because homophobes are the number one source of gay people. And I'm not about to bite the hand that's about to make the hand that's going to touch my penis."
Or maybe he won with the joke about how his African parents could never dress him appropriately for American school. Or how one of his friends "is so racist he makes David Duke look like... wait. Who's not racist?" They are all good. And both funny and humane, which is almost impossible for comedians. Maybe you should consider going and finding your new comedy hero.
