Thank You, Sarah Palin! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

Posted by Wm.™ Steven Humphrey on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 12:20 PM

Have you thanked Sarah Palin today? Well, the members of the conservative "Our Country Deserves Better" PAC have, with this awesomely awkward new ad that thanks Sarah Palin for... well, just being Sarah Palin. (Look. If the gay black guy in the cowboy hat can thank Sarah Palin — then you can too!! Jerk!!)

Thank you, Sarah Palin, for this:

Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?

Palin: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.

Couric: What, specifically?

Palin: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years.

Couric: Can you name a few?

Palin: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, "Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?" Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

I'm actually 100% baffled by that commercial. Was it satire? Were they mocking her? Or were they actually sincere? Half of them seemed to be mocking her, the other half seemed to be genuine.

It all leads to this conclusion: that was a horrible ad that almost isn't even funny. Except for the fat kid and the hokey mom. They were the best bad-acting duo in that badly acted commercial.

I thank her every day for leading the Republicans into defeat, not just this year but in all the years to come.

What's the problem with Republicans and style? Most of their haircuts looked like they came from 1995.

This is a joke. Isn't it?

JL @5, you took the words right out of my mouth... so, um, *was* it parody, or what?

Go to their web site to read up on them if you believe it's a parody.

Also, plenty of people believe GW Bush is one of the finest presidents ever....really.

I'm with #5 here. One moment I thought they were serious, while the next I was convinced they were being satirical. Back and forth, back and forth. I mean, come on. "As Americans sit down to their Thanksgiving dinners of turkey . . . OR MOOSE . . . "

Eeeeeh?

But #10 is probably correct, although I have no desire to visit their web site.

Timing is everything. I just love how this comes out right on the heals of the video of her with the guy stuffing turkeys in the chipper shredder thing behind her. That's all I could think about when they were showing the shots of turkey dinners at the beginning of this "ad".

I take back my comment to Dan about "Every child deserves a mother and a father". This video was even worse.

Thank God America missed the bullet!

Seriously, never has a VP nomination meant so much to our country ...

i love the subtext: thank you sp, for having morals and decency, unlike obama and biden!

now, if ever i saw politicians who were moral and decent as a human beings, it's obama and biden, and yet, only sarah's divine light shines forth according to these folks whose heads seem to be stuffed firmly up the thanksgiving turkey.

sadly, it isn't a satire (but goddamm, either those people are completely humorless, or comedic geniuses). They oppose Obama and are made up Reaganites. I just hope they make more commercials! Don't forget the turkey slaughter, folks!

thanks Sarah, for being such a dumb cunt that white people took their chances with the black guy over a former POW just to make sure there was NO WAY you'd wind up pres.

Please run again in 2012. Pretty please?

I was going to ask "did that sound like satire to anybody else?" but someone above me kind of beat me to it. I really can't take any of that sincerely, haha. Seems like one big parody to me.

Do you think that maybe Palin was McCain's payback to the GOP for fucking him over so very royally in 2004?
Posted by Inquiring minds.... on November 24, 2008 at 5:58 PM

Whoa. Did that guy call her ARTICULATE?
Posted by Grant Cogswell on November 24, 2008 at 7:51 PM

Yeah, #22, that really jumped out at me. "Articulate" with the moose chili recipe chaser requires me to conclude that is parody.
