Rachel Maddow Is Always Interesting

Posted by David Schmader on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 8:22 AM

Most recent proof: Her appearance last Friday night on Conan O'Brien, discussing her stumble into broadcast media, Middle-East children's games, and being a lesbian who knows she's a lesbian and says she's a lesbian. God I love her.

(Thanks for the heads-up, Towleroad.)

i love the way she does the math: "that's eight seconds for every felony." she has all the good outrage, intelligence, integrity and a great sense of humor. i'm so grateful that she's on msnbc.

Rachel is super cool and wicked smart -- hope she is able to keep broadcasting (and wants to) for a long time.

Is lesbian interesting any more?

I mean after Ellen, who cares. Talking about being a lesbian is as interesting as talking about having brown eyes.

It's just another trait. I say "lesbian is, as lesbian does"!

I know I'm strait and say I'm strait so does that make me special? I understand that there's a long history of negativity behind being homosexual but I hate this idea that some people in the slog seem to promote that you're somehow more special if you're gay. Granted her being a lesbian makes her that much hotter I hardly think given her accomplishments it's anywhere near the top of the list, I'm far more attracted to her flaming liberal than her feelings towards women (though knowing my pea sized brain it's a close second).

I know Rachel from back in the day. She's about the coolest most progressive person you could ever hope to be on TV. I'm so glad to see her again.

8: Sure, if you're into girls who look like they're an accordion away from being in They Might Be Giants.

It'll be interesting as long as there are idiots who'll send in mail saying, "You're gay."

@10, the more accepted form of illiterate kook insult is "your gay" or possibly "your are gay". These people are not typically adept wielders of the apostrophe.

I never miss her TV show or her radio show. She is the most reasonable "pundit" there is.

I like the fact that she never gets angry, strident, or overly shrill, which is a minor miracle on talk radio, nowadays.

She's good, but she does get a bit self-satisfiedly Olbermanesque at times.

@11, but I love that she's anti-glam. Geek chic is hot!

I think it's great to see people busting down the gender stereotypes on TV. More brains and less (plastic) beauty can only be a good thing.
