Attention Waterworld Superfans

Posted by Lindy West on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 10:45 PM

To anyone wondering—based on my comment here—how I got the stupid idea that Waterworld was "never before on DVD," maybe it was because of this:

Apparently this copy is defective. It is covered with lies.

I think they meant this is the first time anyone bothered to commit the 40-minute longer "extended cut" to DVD but, just like the original production, they screwed it all up.
40 more minutes of Waterworld? Why, Baby Jesus, why did you let this happen?

The fine print says it's the first time the "Extended Cut with over 40 Minutes of Extra Footage" has been on DVD.

I bought a 5 dollar copy from Walmart about 4 years ago, and still haven't bothered watching it.

@8: Yeah, I'm sure the first thing she thought when she saw that DVD cover was, "Hm, I should spend even more time thinking about Waterworld by researching it on the internet."

I still don't believe there was ever a Kevin Costner movie called Waterworld. Where's the proof?

I liked waterworld. The beginning, at least. It got dumber and dumber as it went on, but the beginning was pretty interesting.

That movie was long enough, WTF are you going to do with the 40+ freaking extra minutes of extend stupidity?

Magnificent Ambersons on DVD? No time to do a master, the long version of Waterworld has priority!
