All You Need Is Love

The Vatican has finally forgiven John Lennon for joking about how The Beatles were 'bigger than Jesus' 42 years ago.

Hey, since we're talking about old sins, remember how the Pope was a member of Hitler Youth? And how the current church is against birth control? Yeah, it's great they finally forgave this dead Anglican/Episcopalian for making an obvious joke over four decades ago. It's good to know Catholicism has its priorities in order.

Remember Dan, the Papacy was VERY supportive of Hitler throughout the war.

Wow, the catholic church has finally stepped into the 70's? They're moving faster than usual.

So extremely timely and relevant. I think the Church wants us to believe that somewhere there's a Beatles record bonfire that is just now being put out thanks to this press release. Just like people finally stopped talking smack about Galileo after they issued that apology back in the 90's.

Mormons have their baptisms for dead non-Mormons, the Vatican has their posthumous forgiveness. Retroactively inserting themselves, like unwanted appendices, into stories that have long since ended.

There was a story a few days ago that the pope was "rethinking opening a dialogue with other faiths," or something like it. I still don't know what that means. I was baptized Catholic because I was born in a Catholic Hospital in the 60s. I don't give a rats ass about the pope.

Fucking Nazi Pope. Make sense they would have a Nazi Pope. Do you think it's just a coincidence that the jews were murdered in the millions by people raised in "good Christian homes"? Disgusting fucking religion.

Of course just about every kid in Nazi Germany had to be in Hitler's youth - or wanted to be because of peer pressure - so it's very disingenuous to label those adolescent activities as “his Nazi past.”

@8 I agree. He was required to join the Hitler Youth and refused to go to the meetings once he did join. He was drafted into the German military and eventually deserted. I'm no big fan of the pope (and I'm Catholic so I have more reason to not like him than most of you) I don't think it's very fair to judge him because of what he was forced to do as a teenager. Ugh...i never thought I'd be defending the pope.

Are these the same Catholics who invited the Mormons to join in supporting the campaign against gay marriage in California?

Or are there two Catholic churches?

Somewhere I remember hearing this Pope is really really really anti gay, almost from his first day in the new gig. True?

@1 -- I do believe that Paul posted this one, not Dan.
