Teh Internets Lively Is Dead

Google has announced that they're shutting down Lively, which was their half-assed Second Life competitor. By 'half-assed,' I mean that Lively, which was referred to as a "3D Chat" program didn't allow people to create entire worlds like in Second Life. Perhaps most importantly, you couldn't have sex in it. Let this be a lesson to us all. Here is a video of Second Life sex:
This is why Second Life is the best thing ever. Or something.

Second Life is confusing and boring. :[ If they made The Sims 3 into an online game, I would quit real life forever and ever.

Now I'd wish they'd shut down all the other half assed things they do:

half-assed browser
Let all the snowboarding geniuses figure out how to actually innovate rather than stealing stuff from Sourceforge and putting the letter "G" in front of it.

@5 - Chrome is sweet. It's the only multiprocess browser out there. That is not half-assed. Lively is half-assed.

@5 Docs is one of the best online office apps out there, Android is an amazing open source mobile OS that has incredible potential, and Chrome beats all other browsers except Firefox hands down, and once it gets extensions it can easily compete.

Lively was just a couple peoples project (fun fact: most of the stuff that comes out of Google are employees "20% time" projects, not official Google projects that they put a lot of time and money into) that failed because it was just a bad idea.
Google has some of the most brilliant people working for it, and certainly isn't half-assed.

That was a "sex and disability seminar"? It sure looked like a first-year graphics designer's shitty attempt at MTV-style editing & effects cheez to me.

You work with a bunch of nerds and the comments had to tell you that was the Sims? They speak in a made-up language and have the big green diamond above their heads, ferchrissakes!
