Harry Potter Likes My Brother's Band

From a CBS interview with Daniel "I-used-to-be-Harry-Potter-but-now-I-wave-my-wand-in-Equus" Radcliffe:

Another fan was curious about Radcliffe's taste in music.

"There's a great — there's a band called The Wedding Present, who have just released a song — who have been going for ages, I think. They just released 'Hope Loves Betty,' which is great. Now I'm struggling to think. Holy Ghost Revival, a band. They have a song called 'The Gospel According to Judas.' They're sort of between, there are bits of Bowie and glam rock. I can't think of any more at this particular point in time," he said.

Our little sister is going to be sooooo jealous that this kid:

Is a fan of this singer:

A digression: I think that video was shot shortly after my we'd returned from a two-month European tour for which I agreed to roadie/sell merch (if you asked my brother) or chaperone (if you asked my mother). It was a trip of waking up in strange places: on a cot in Stockholm with a Swede's feet in my face, in a bed in London with two ladies who weren't there when I'd fallen asleep, on the freezing and barely-carpeted floor of a (concrete, uninsulated) squat in Munich as two beefy German goth-punks snorted crank off a table two feet from my head. In those two months, I learned to sleep like a soldier.

Well, Holy Ghost Revival is awesome. You can't fault him for having good taste.

And the Weddoes. Interesting. I have no interest in Harry Potter, but I've liked Radcliffe ever since I saw him fling an unrolled condom onto Diana Rigg's face in "Extras".

The enjoyment in Equus is not Radcliffe's wand, but his ass.

Is Equus about horses having sex with tribes of women?

@2: That is one of my favorite episodes of Extras!

I'm a little surprised I guess, but good for him in having good taste. I'm also surprised by how good the new Wedding Present album is.

It's not the same without Simon on drums. The new drummer is a bit of a plodder; he's holding the songs back, IMHO.

Gee, I wish my brother was in a band that the Harry Potter guy liked. That sounds so cool. I guess.

It's not so much cool as it is weird.

And a little disorienting—when a famous person is a fan of your not-very-famous brother, it upends the normal fame pyramid.

Does having a celebrity as your fan make you a celebrity by proxy? A celebrity's celebrity? A proto-celebrity? It's all very confusing.

Is that kid 18 yet? I've never slobbered over someone that young, but my, my, look at those tight hips.

Is this the band from Bainbridge Island that won some kind of "battle of the bands" a while back? Wow, off "The Rock" and on to "rock semi-stardom".

@12: allow me to answer that for you: yes. YES! YES! having a famous fan makes you famous. it's in the by-laws. which are not anything like the in-laws.
