Christmas Comes Early This Year

The Flaming Lips movie "Christmas on Mars: A Fantastical Film Freakout" is finally being screened in Seattle. For two nights only. Northwest Film Forum, located on wayneeatslight.jpgPike and 12th, has an 11pm showing this Friday and another 11pm showing Saturday. I have been waiting to see this movie for at least five years. I admit to wimping out at Sasquatch and giving up, outside that orange and yellow circus tent, on my hopes of seeing the movie there. But, Seattle has been given a second chance to view a movie filmed in Coyne's backyard, using trash for props and featuring new music from the band.

Tickets are $6 for members, $6.50 for kids under 12 and kids over 60 and $9 for the rest of us.

Rent "Fearless Freaks" first. It's a documentary about the Lips that blew my mind and made me feel differently about the process of making art in the context of a particular community. The filming of Christmas on Mars features heavily. An all-time favorite Rock-doc of mine.
