Believe It or Not, Chuck Norris Is Not So Intelligent

Posted by David Schmader on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:15 PM

Case in point: Mr. Norris' Prop 8 op-ed for Townhall.com.

There were many of us who passionately opposed Obama, but you don't see us protesting in the streets or crying "unfair." Rather, we are submitting to a democratic process and now asking how we can support "our" president. Just because we don't like the election outcome doesn't give us the right to bully those who oppose us. In other words, if democracy doesn't tip our direction, we don't swing to anarchy. That would be like the Wild West, the resurrection of which seems to be happening in these post-election protests.

Granted, Townhall.com is also home to an op-ed arguing that Obama never would've won the presidency if voters were required to pass literacy tests, but still, I feel it is my duty to inform Chuck Norris that denying citizens equal rights is not the same as denying citizens the right to have a non-black president. Please make a note of it.

Granted, I only read your post and not the links, but where does it say he was passionately against Obama because he wanted a non-black president? Way to take a huge and unfair leap there, David.

On a related note, I can't believe you just wrote something so outlandish that you forced me to support Chuck Norris. Jerk.

Chuck Norris should stick to roundhouse kicks instead of politics

Chuck has definitely jumped the couch himself - for one thing, all the Right ever DOES is "cry 'unfair'" every time something doesn't go their way; and the Religious Right is the WORST of the worst.

How fucking many times have we had to listen to James Dobson, just to cite one glaringly obvious example, whine in a press conference that some for-profit corporation has trampled on the sensibilities of good, God-fearing Christians, whenever they do something so heinous as enact workplace domestic-partnership benefits or what-not, at which point he calls on those same GG-FC's to engage in a nation-wide boycott of said company?

But of course, now that churches, along with their own corporate subsidiaries, have become the objects of similar boycott actions, SUDDENLY such tactics are deemed "unfair"?

Bull-fucking-shit, is what I say. "Live by the boycott, die by the boycott". Let them whine all they want as they watch in dismay as their money-funneling businesses take hit after hit from a progressive public no longer inclined to cater to their hypocritical caterwauling.

The sooner some of these fucktards get the message that they can no longer get away with advancing their religio-fascist political agenda, while at the same time hiding behind the cassocks or magic underwear or whatever of their religious exemptions, the better.

Just because we don't like the election outcome doesn't give us the right to bully those who oppose us. Just because they won the election doesn't take away our right to protest those who oppress us.

I guess my computer is a liberal too, because it refused to let me read the Townhall op ed, locking up my browser in furious protest. But from the snippet on Slog: Yeah, what @1 said. I think Chuck is wrong that protests = wild west anarchy. But I don't see anything to indicate that he is a racist. A right-wing kool-aid drinker for sure, but that's not always the same thing.

Um, hey Chuck, your Republican friends *do* intimidate people at family planning clinics, pride parades, etc. One of your faithful threatened Pres. Clinton after he was elected ("If he comes down here..."). And your gay-bashing pals have intimidating enough men and women right into the hospital while you look the other way. You're a swell guy, Chuck.

Who's Chuck Norris?

Is he like one of those guys who ran for President instead of staying with his acting job?

Uh, the line: "Just because we don't like the election outcome doesn't give us the right to bully those who oppose us." is kind of true. If you lose a political fight, you get back up and start a new campaign...whining about the outcome and claiming it's not fair and harrassing people who don't support you is what 8 year olds do.

It's time to quit bitching and finger pointing and scapegoating and time to get to work raising money and more importantly, raising public awareness to get the legislation passed in the future.

And scream all you want at corporate institutions (I'm including churches here) and public figures; they deserve what they get but I don't think threatening people on the individual level is very productive. Harassing middle aged waitressess or threatening to disown your Uncle Pete or boycotting a local business because one employee voted for Prop 8 or intimidating anyone because they have differing opinions on this matter isn't going to win any converts to the cause. It just pisses a lot of people off so they won't listen to anything you have to say.

And, I'm a happy and proud gay man but I refuse to hate everyone who voted for Prop 8; the haters and the bigots, sure; they can rot in hell, but if you think everyone who voted for Prop 8 is a hater and a bigot, then you're a moron. Tens of thousands who voted for it have gay friends and relatives they love and cherish but it's possible to love and respect a gay man or lesbian woman and still have issues with the concept of gay marriage. I think a lot of people have lost sight that the fucking CONCEPT of gay marriage on any sort of sizable scale is less than 40 years old. I'm not going to hate on people who are still grappling with coming to terms with it. Considering it's taken society a couple millenia to get rid of slavery and it's only been 40 years for African-Americans to have begun to achieve much in the line of equality, I'm not going to stamp my feet in frustration and have a hissy fit because of one political setback.

The battle will go on but not until a lot of people realize they need to learn that successful battles require patience and discipline and endurance and the ability to know who to shoot at, and when...

What good is a democracy where you can't protest an attack on your constitutional rights? Chuck Norris has always set off my gaydar, but now I'm sure of it.

@14:

Uh, the line: "Just because we don't like the election outcome doesn't give us the right to bully those who oppose us."

I guess I'm confused by where the line is between protesting and "bullying." Chucky seems to be saying that protesting in the streets is undemocratic.

Or something.

Michelle Malkin called the American Public stupid because Obama won the election.

That's pretty damned close.

Everything EVERYTHING that is happening with regard to Prop 8 IS democratic. Free speech protests ARE democratic, Law suits ARE democratic, getting mad IS democratic. What is he talking about?

He's a dork. But I'd still like to do him. But I'd pee on him afterwards, just to show my contempt.

Does that make me a bad person?

He might be gettin up there in years now, but I'd still take him for a backup in a bar fight with a bunch of silly ass Seattle hipsters. There's be some girly screaming and beards flying through plate glass windows with Chuck on the case.

Bob has a few pictures of himself on his blog that explain why he's so fixated on Bar Fights. It turns out he's got one of those Neandertal brows. Bigger heads, but not so much for the thinking. Pretty good for headbutting people, I guess, but in the end I wouldn't tap a Neandertal to help me out in a bar fight. They were weeded out for a reason.

Don't know what Bob's still doing here.

It is most interesting to note that many of you people who speak out against Chuck Norris seem to have a limited vocabulary. It's F this or S_-- that and all other immature talk. This just goes to show everyone else how angry such clean-cut personalities make you...which actually indicates that perhaps what Mr. Norris says must be true about you as well. Capish! Sorry to bust your bubble, but we're all created in God's image; apparently a lot of you refuse to accept that too. Maybe that's why you seem to like making an ass of yourself via how you talk. I should know, I used to be an ass myself.

If ALL of us are created in God's image, God must be one ugly deity.

And hazon - I hate to break it to you, but you're still an ass. You might have found Jesus or something, but that doesn't make you a non-ass.
