Why is it that Humps post earlier gagged me with a french spoon and this just, well, french tickled me? It's probably a similar thing when Europeans say we've no culture and dig ze Roke en Roll so much. Thanks Dan.

One of the best pieces of music for coloratura soprano ever. That, and she nails it.

That was fantastic! If you're hesitating to watch it because you don't like opera, watch it to the end. It gets better and better.

More operatic and more high notes!!! Damrau might not look like Dessay onstage but vocally she has her beat in my book.

Sticking in the High F in After "Gay and Reckless!" BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER!

Best,

Is it wrong for me to wonder if she screams like that when getting plowed?

Pretty darned close. The ha's aren't aspirated very well though, which is the whole point, it's what makes it a joke in coluratura. At least she uses some sort of vague continental attempt at it, but it's more like a glottal stop than an aspiration.
Still since Ms Cook has refused to sing the thing since the show closed oh so long ago, I guess this will have to do.

Ms. Cook is 81 this year. She probably hasn't had the chops for Glitter and Be Gay in quite some time, but she can still knock 'em out of the park on her good days.

By the way, did anyone else notice how happy and well-rested Dan looked on all of his New York feeds last week?

Mmmmm, autumn in New York.

I told ya! # 10 She ROCKS!

But, that one F is the only one she sings in this piece.

Best,

Nice to hear it sung by someone taller than Kristen Chenoweth. But then, most people are taller than Kristen Chenoweth.

Now I get to sing "J'ai deux amours" in a banana skirt. She is so good I'm evil jealous.
