Long Haired Freaky People: Obama Administration lists who's getting booted from the drug czar's office.

Note to Obama: Here's what the pot smokers want you to do.

A Practice for the Test: Random drug testing for addiction-prone anesthesiologists.

The Undeniable Link Between Drugs and Violence: Starbucks employees unionize and walk off the job, demanding better security after violence increases around the store.

Out Smoked: The Dutch smoke less pot than the Danes, French, and Britons.

Separating the Weed From the Chaff: Lawyers in court to argue that hemp should be legal because it's not psychoactive marijuana.

Peer Pressure: We cut cigarette smoking by half, and we didn't need to make 20 million arrests to do it.

Look, this country is barely keeping up with the world as it spins hyperfast and we continue to trudge along failing to manage the global contingencies. The Chinese OWN us. Legalizing pot would just slow us down worse - stoners aren't exactly the real go-getters in high pressure environments. THC amotivates.

Alcohol is bad enough, why add more neuroactive ingredients to the moron stew?

Well, maybe we should ban alcohol, then, to catch up with the Chinese. That would evidently provide a big boost to our workforce, right Bob?

Although, if all the bars were closed, where would you fight people with a powerful drunken redneck at your side?

We should also ban recreational time. The Chinese don't have that, and look how hyperfast their economy is spinning. If we want to hope to compete in the world today, we need to institute seven day, 120 hour work weeks immediately.

Too late in the game to ban alcohol, and besides, it doesn't amotivate anything like weed. Just makes for a rough couple of hours first thing in the morning till the coffee kicks in.

The old two wrongs make a right argument that weedheads employ, while seemingly the height of logical brilliance while baked with your buddy in his mom's basement, doesn't, you know, really work in the real world.

Put down the bong, Chris, and pick up the job ads. Contribute to the economy. Not just by purchasing glassware with the few bucks you earn mowing your grandparent's lawn.

This is in the Saturday PI - border patrol officers can have roadblocks to do mandatory searches - as far as 100 MILES from the Canadian border. (Thanks, Patriot Act and right-wing Supreme Court!) Grrrr...

@Bob - Maybe, then, we should legalize cocaine and speed, then, if economic productivity is all we're after as a country? Your myth (and it is a myth) that pot smokers are less productive doesn't hold water. I happen to have a demanding, intellectually intensive job as a computer programmer, and I smoke about every day before bed.

Put down the Rush Limbaugh, Bob, and get some facts.

I've never smoked Pot. I'm lazy and unproductive all on my own. If I smoked, I'm afraid I might actually be productive.

Jeez, the only reason I'd even want to be an anesthesiologist is to get my mitts on that top-drawer shit.

Productive, "amotivational syndrome" is a well known result of smoking weed. And please tell me you don't write programs that are actually, you know, like important - for example - Air Traffic Control software.

You write role playing game software, huh?

And beating your young children is a well known result of drinking alcohol. What's your point, Bob?

The unemployment rate is 6% right now. Do you think only 6% of people smoke weed? The shitty retail and food service jobs all do drug tests. Many of the people who smoke have real jobs that they do well enough that they still have them.

I'm the one who never smoked pot, by the way. I've never smoked. I want to make sure that you know I don't smoke, because you assume that anyone who argues with you smokes pot(I don't), and thus their arguments are meaningless, ill-constructed, and biased. Mine is not. Because I don't smoke.
