Posted by Eli Sanders on Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 8:47 AM

Yikes! Sorry Sloggers, I overslept. Hit refresh and watch The Morning News grow before your eyes...

Record decline: In retail sales for October.

The War Wagon: And other new additions to Obama's Hyde Park.

Secretary of State Clinton? It's reportedly under consideration.

A post-Evangelical America? How can I not link a headline like that on Slog?

Wild fires: Raging once again in Southern California.

Good Morning, America! Bill Ayers does the show.

Young, wired, and Gay: A look at how the Internets and such are helping homos organize the Prop 8 protests.

Washington State voter turnout: Might have been a record, nearly 85 percent.

Viaduct scenarios: Yes, we are still playing this game.

Not cute: Kitten kicked like football by teenagers.

And Bill O'Reilly on The Daily Show:

Teenagers can be unbelievably stupid. Their brains haven't fully developed though, so they tend to behave how a person with a frontal lobotomy would behave.

@7, 8 thank you! I have waited so long for somebody to speak out on behalf of kittens.

I don't have the patience this morning to wait for the kitten video to load. Which is a good thing. My two younger brothers shot my cat when I was 13. It is hard to fathom the cruel things people do. I feel like puking

I regret that I can't watch cute kitten vids at work.

One wonders how many people didn't bother to vote in CA who are protesting now though ...

I was upset by the cat video and emailed the vet. I already mailed a check with a small donation for the work they did with the poor kitty. This is what they wrote back in case anyone else wants to send $$:

Hello, Paulie has a new wonderful family. We are accepting donations, our address is 5775 Laurel Island Parkway, Kingsland Ga 31548. Thank you for your kind e-mail. Jamie

PC here, hey thanks for the attention, @2 and @3.

YEs I thought this would be noteworthy news to Slog readers.

But hey you guys are avoiding the issue.

What I said was if Bush=Clinton and if she has such terrible foreign policy judgment and if she is a liar, etc. then why the fuck is Obama consdiering her?

You got no response, do you. As usual.

The reason is she's pretty good on foriegn policy and she's pretty good in general, like I said.

And by considering her, that's what Pres. Obama is saying, too.

And that means that yes all that talk about Clinton = Bush and she's a liar and has horrible judgment was all total bullshit.

And in response you can only call names like little children.

Pls. grow up. What Obama saidin the primary is all a fair attack, pretty standard-fare campaign exageration and misdirection for political purposes -- to further his own ambition -- more than it was true.

So fucking own it you cowardly shitheads. You're not fooling anyone.

It was all baloney and you got no response.

And btw it's spelled "blah" not "bla." While obviously I often don't respect the readers of Slog enough to proofread my own posts, I am pretty consistent in saying "blah blah blah".

Now if there are any adults out there who wish to discuss pros and cons of Clinton or those other really excellent Secretary of STate candidates, Richardson and Kerry, have at it.

Here's one plus that giving it to Clinton offers:

1. Makes Pres. Obama look presidential and not chicken shit afeerd of Hillarydawg.

Um, like @2 and 3 are.

2. This keeps her on the inside .....if OBama fucks up, don't you want her on the inside, having OBama as boss, and being essentially tied to his program, instead of on the outside, building her own power base against him?

3. It does say "change" to the rest of the world, she's a chick being secretary of state. That's still a bit not so usual despite Condi.

4. He unites the party unlike @2 and @3 which persist in assholery childish taunting type comments. What's that for btw?

5. You kinda get Billdawg cemented on baord, too.

6. Kerry is a boring talker and I do not wish to hear him speak. Richardson the same, he kind of meanders a lot when he talks. Still, both of them would be great.

See, children, @2 adn @3, a rational approach is that nobody is all saint nor all sinner, there really are pros and cons in many things in the world, and when you grow up and wish to have an adult conversation I will cease giving you your well deserved insults.

Because in reality, you are not children are you?

MEanwhile that race in Georgia is going on right now and everyone who wants change should go make a donation to that guy. And if you really want change why don't you get off your ass and go fly somewhere and volunteer for a candidate like I have done. Georgia for Thanksgiving, working for the Democrat. There will probably be an appearance by Pres. Obama just before the election.

Hey, how about OBama-Biden and the new secretary of state, Clinton? That would be a lot of positive unity, no?

One last point @2 adn @3, how are you likning that Clinton staffer Emanuel is head of the white house staff now and Clinton staffer Podesta is head of the transition and that about a dozen clinton staffers are heading up the various teams on the transition ? And Clintonista Summers is under consideration for tresury secretary?

Apart from crying and whining and calling names, I mean. do you even know? Do you even care? Does this signal "Pres. Obama is savvy and smart, and he's uniting the party and getting the best and he brightest" or does this signifiy "oh shit, look, he's fucking up, this isn't the change I voted for?"

If you had a brain and weren't operating on the Beavis and Butthead level, you might have an opinion on this type of stuff. But apparently YOU HAVE NO OPINION and you think this is a game.

My opininion? HRC for state is a pretty good choice, probably better than Richardson or Kerry, it's sort of earned, and it will create a smoother dynamic by having her on board. This in turn could help Obama get all the shit he wants passed, passed. So I like it. Emanuel and Podesta I like. Summers not so much, that's just too much nonchange Tresaury is so improtant now I want to see someone like Krugman or Buffet, someone who says "change."

Unity y'all--

So last week it was the brain-dead politician who compared Obama to Hitler and this week it's kitten kickball. Did I mention how proud I am to be from Georgia? (I know I have to keep saying it, but I promise we're not all like that.)

Hey we know you're not all like that and we totally totally hope you win that Senate run off.

Back to you @2 and @3 is it really true that you simply have no opinion about HRC for secetary fo state or anyone else for that matter?

That kind of makes you two about as dumb as Palin, you know.

this is from Politico. I'm kind of amzed you two don't actually have any opinion about the ratehr obvious "merger" of Obama with all the clintonistas.

I mean what tdo you think, do tell us. Yea? Nay? Maybe? Wait and see?

do tell. this is a forum. use your rights to speak, please.

Anyway from politic:

"Here's how you can tell the campaign is over and the transition has begun: Barack Obama's aides now wear suits and ties, their desks are in the Federal Building on 6th Street in Washington — and Clintonites are everywhere.

Obama's victory in the general election produced what his primary campaign couldn't: A swift merger of the Clinton Wing of the Democratic Party with the Illinois Senator's self-styled insurgency. ...The absorption of the Clinton government in waiting represents Obama's choice ...Obama's first major appointments have been Democrats who worked for President Clinton and did not endorse him in the primary: Transition chief John Podesta and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, who will be White House chief of staff, stayed neutral, and Ron Klain, who will be Joe Biden's chief of staff, backed Biden. Obama, advisers told Politico, may even be weighing offering Hillary Rodham Clinton herself the Cabinet plum of Secretary of State.
....{Some Clintonite professor named Galston said] "It was never a substantive or an ideological split — it was more like Team A and Team B."

that's my point, you two clowns at @2 adn @3. All that rivalry was just intramural bullshit, and you all knew you were lying, basically, by spouting off that "Clinton = Bush" nonsense."

So now's the time to STFU and get some unity dudes.

Back to politico:
"the shift in Obama's universe is not to be understated. From the top down, his early choices reflect an openness, and even a warmth, to the veterans of 1990s governance. It’s a shift from a campaign that in the primary explicitly attacked President Clinton's tenure as a time of partisan strife and missed opportunities.

The single most important change in that respect is at the top, and the replacement of the slim, tightly-wound campaign chief of staff, David Plouffe, 41, with the slim, tightly wound Podesta, 59. "

So, you voted for OBama and you're getting lots of Clintonistas in the government.

Happy? Sad? Discuss.

Or if you wish cointinue to not have any opinions worth mentioning. It's a free world and I value your right to be childish in it.

I just watched this video. And watching it brought frustrated tears of anger to my eyes. That young punks could do something like that. And what is far worse, is that their young age is the very thing that will shield them from the punishment they so richly deserve. I hope that those children who did this are kidnapped by some terrible maniac, and held captive and tortured without mercy for the rest of their lives for what they did to that helpless kitten.

Why does Bill O'Reilly keep going on the Daily Show? He gets his ass handed back to him every time. Is he secretly a decent rational person playing a RightWing nutjob character?
