As I posted last night, the Seattle Parks Board has indeed rejected a push by the Seattle Parks Department to ban nudity in parks. In fact, the board has asked Parks to examine the feasibility of giving nudists a piece of one of Seattle's beaches.
"We never know what the board’s going to do," says parks department spokeswoman Dewey Potter. "I was kind of surprised."
The parks department will monitor how clothing-optional groups comply with park permit conditions over the next few months—although it seems unfathomable that any nudist groups would be applying for permits this winter—and in turn, parks will look at the nine beaches staffed with lifeguards—Matthews, Magnuson, West and East Green Lake, Madison Park (betcha it's not gonna be there), Madrona, Mount Baker, Seward Park and Pritchard—to see if any of them could be used for nekkid frolicking.
The parks board has not set a time line for the parks department to complete its feasibility study.
