Why is he a War Hero? I don't think killing people makes anyone a hero, I don't care WHO tells you to go kill; Mob leader, Gang Lord, President, Dictator, Priest, Imam.

well it was the surviving 5 years of torture that kind of ipso facto makes him a hero

@1:
Uuuhhhh... Where is your Veteran's Day spirit?????????

Jus' kidding. I agree with you whole heartedly. In fact, I had my kid stay home from school on Mon., because the school was having a Veteran's Day "program." Jesus! She's only in the 2nd grade, and they are attempting to expose her to this propaganda. Two steps forward, three steps back, right?

dropping bombs on peasants from the most modern high-tech jet is god damn heroic - if it wasn't for people like mccain the whole world would be commie today - if we hadn't stopped them in Vietnam they would have invaded california and the rest of the US - he ate, slept, and kept the company of commies for 5 years now that's hanging with...

Future non-speculative, non-rich property owners are catching the biggest break ever right now. About friggin' time.

Fuck flippers. Fuck them hard. Property speculation is why I won't be able to afford a house until I'm past 30.

And fuck the new comment system. 'Editing' comments does nothing; it reverts to the original when you click the 'save' button.

Gotta say it:
The new comment system does leave a little to be desired. How am I to preview my comment, when I can only see 1/2 of it?

Why the fuck are we subsidizing the port at all?
Posted by CP on November 12, 2008 at 9:50 AM

Port of Seattle is the most corrupt quasi-governmental body I've ever seen. They make the the liquor control board in Boston look like Dalai Lamas. The whole purpose of the Port is to shovel taxpayer money into a handful of corporations, while the actual port activity -- shipping -- is mostly done in Tacoma now. Pat Davis should be taken out and shot.

Islamists taking over Somalia isn't exactly news:

@1,

I guess I have high standards, but I think a war hero has to do something extraordinary, like save another soldier under fire for instance. As far as I know, McCain did nothing of the sort. He ran and hid on the Forrestal and he used his status as the son of an admiral to get medical treatment after he was captured. I'm not saying that I or most people would be braver than that, but, in order to qualify as a hero, you have to be better and stronger than the average shmuck.

Weird comment system.

And, once again, another unvoted on tax increase by the Red Bushies at the Port ...

@19 Exactly right. Read up on Bob Dole or Dan Inouye for what a "war hero" does. Spoiled fly-boys who get shot down & beaten without a choice may be "brave", but let's not denigrate real "heroes" by throwing it around lightly.

McCain could slolidify the support he rabble-roused in 2008 by heading the Klan ticket in 2012.
