It's War

Posted by Dan Savage on Wed, Nov 12, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Not helping you pick out your dress, not doing the flowers, not gonna cater-waiter your reception—you've been put on notice, straight people.

Recognize that voice?

I love the idea.

I'm trying to get over the shock that he's gay. Of course, with a name like "Krayon", you'd have to be a big black athlete, or a total 'mo.

what are gay caterers and hair stylists gonna do for money if they boycott straight weddings? hmm? and what about all the many nice straights who voted no on 8? punish them too? i've got a better idea: actively befriend church members over the next several years. make them laugh, show them you're human.

It should be noted, in the interest of fairness, that the wedding-industrial complex is only 50% gay. Of the rest of it, 40% are matronly women who tend towards big hair and broaches. But most of them are fag hags who are trying to make their way after a messy divorce, so they might go out on strike with us.

The other 10% are weirdo DeeJays, and relentlessly cheery single girls who hope that by just being around the scene, someone might want to marry them. They probably aren't reachable.

Of course, I'm not even counting the bitter closet case florists. I don't know what side they'd come down on.
