Dougsley is in bloom, everyone.

The corpse flower housed at the Volunteer Park Conservatory began to unfurl its massive, putrid inflorescence a few days ago—something that happens about every 10 years. According to senior gardener David Helgeson, Dougsley "has a very fetid odor compared to bad fish, dirty gym socks or sewer gas.” And a hilarious Twitter account!

A corpse flower bloom typically lasts only a few days before it collapses. The cool weather has slowed Dougsley's process a bit so the bloom should be available for your olfactory displeasure through the weekend.

But the end will come soon. Don't miss it. Go now. Go right now. Don't even finish reading this post. Leave your children to fend for themselves. Don't stop for red lights. Grab that cheeseburger to go. GRAB THAT CHEESEBURGER TO GO!

If you miss Dougsley, or just want to scare the bejeezus out of yourself, please enjoy this timelapse video of a corpse flower blooming last year in Denver. It is some serious Babadook, monster-under-the-bed shit.
