Government grant announcements are only fun because they're a snapshot of what artists are doing all holed up in their studios and garages. Not all artists, mind you. There are plenty who never get, and never apply for, government funding. But for those who do, King County arts agency 4Culture just announced the latest round, and it includes:

Mary Coss, Taking Off the Gloves.

Rachel Kessler, building Profanity Hill.

The Clothesline is A Temporary Sculpture Expanded Biweekly by East African Seamstresses in New Holly/Othello, a project led by George Lee.

And Sophie Loubere has made it her business to translate a Woolfian riddle. She's working on The Waves: Virginia Woolf's Masterpiece Designed and Illustrated in Physical and Digital Forms. Godspeed.

See all of the arts projects 4Culture funded here, all the heritage projects here (hip hop archiving by Third Andresen, Mikala Woodward's Drawing the Line: Lake Washington's Historic Shoreline) here, and all the historic preservation projects (Auburn's post office is becoming an arts center!) here.
