The people who voted to leave the EU: old people, any part of England that's not London, and my sister (who is black, an immigrant, and under 50). That's about it. My sister and I were raised in the same house by the same parents and under the exact same economic conditions but she, a lawyer by training (and trained in Scotland), is clearly on the right of the political spectrum and holds (and often expresses) the opinion that my Marxism is childish.

Steven Shaviro, the prominent American culture critic, says this about Brexit and Donald Trump, who apparently has no idea that Scotland overwhelmingly voted to stay and will now probably break with old and no longer merry England:

Simple solution: nobody over the age of 50 should be allowed to vote. No Brexit, no Trump. (I say this despite being well over 50 myself).
We can expect more Trumps and Brexits in the future because Western capitalist societies are aging.

But everything I had to say about Brexit and the reason why the left had to vote to stay (and why the right voted to exit) is here.
